The mids control was the thing that first got me interested in the Photon
Instead of using the mids EQ and output level to dial in the mids, you will now have to use the bass, treble and level control to dial in the mids. You will still have the same amount of control over the mids, just with three knobs instead of two. I think the noise reduction control is going to be well worth the sacrifice of the mids control.

Thanks for clearing that up Frank. You had me worried for a minute. Having control over the mids is a must for me with a fuzz.
With all this success, FEA probably don't have to change anything, but imo it would be nice with a small pedal compressor to match my TC mini pedals

Thanks! Unless I made the circuits all surface mount components, I wouldn’t be able to fit any of our existing circuits into a mini enclosure. Even then, they would need to be stripped of the controls that I feel that they should have.
Plus I have promised my guys that I wouldn’t design another compressor until after we released our next 4 products.

The first product is actually the new Photon Fuzz and Glen has a link for notification on that product page. This will be out sometime in 2015.
The second is a parallel loop pedal that has some REALLY cool features. This is going to somewhat replace our 2-CH MIXER. Glen sent emails to everyone that was on the mixer list, so that they can stay on the list for this new loop pedal or to be placed into another product list. If interested in this one, you can email Glen directly (his email address is on our contacts page). I am hoping for release in late 2015.
The third will be our new dual-band distortion. This one is designed to be much more gig/user friendly than our discontinued DBD. It is designed so that the controls are straight forward, don't interact with each other like the original DBD and are much easier to setup. This one I hope for release in early to mid 2016. We won't be keeping a list for this one until we make an official announcement for its ETA.
The forth is a sustain pedal that is geared more for our guitar playing brother and sisters. In some ways this could be considered a type of compressor, but it is designed primarily for sustain use. This one I hope to be released in late 2016, there will be no list for this one until an official ETA announcement has been made.
Later this year we will be releasing an on-board preamp that has been sitting around dormant for a few years. This preamp is designed more for exotic setups or experimentalist. I have contacted some friends of ours for beta testing several years ago when I thought I would have the time to gear up for manufacturing, but the demand for compressors increased and stalled this product. We won't be keeping a list for this until it has been officially released.

They are quite a bit different in the ways the distortions are generated. What I have done with the new one is take some of the qualities of several traditional distortions and OD's and brought them together in a unique way. The soft clipping overdrive sections use 10 transistors and the hard clipping section uses 4 transistors. That's a total of 14 transistors dedicated to dirt production without the use of any diodes. All of the dirt design is complete for the high-band side (it's what I have already described).
I have to make a decision on what the low-band side is going to get. I have two choices right now... one is keep the low-band clean or have a fixed low gain OD with soft clipping. I really like them both, but because this pedal will only have 8 control knobs I can not have both. Right now, I am leaning more towards keeping the low-band clean. Because having a fixed gain OD does not work well for all instruments. Low output instruments will need more gain and high output instruments would need less gain. Most of the time lately when I have been playing with the original DBD, I turn the low-band distortion all of the way down and just use the low-band dry blend with a gritty high-band tone.
So this is not a newer version of the original DBD, but a totally new dual-band distortion with different features.
If you are looking for something closer to our original DBD, then the Brimstone XD pedals may be worth checking out.

Just received the DE-CL compressor. This is a fantastic product. Glen answered some questions I had (needed to adjust the threshold sensitivity - see trimmer inside case.) What a great, flexible, useful product! I'm not big into compression, but for some songs, it's nice to have that 'squashed' sound (pumping 1/8's on CCM - Hillsong type stuff.) I suspect it will grow on me as I experiment. Love the '2 levels' of compression/limiter. Perfect. Thanks FEA!
By any chance does anyone know where the production numbers for DBCLs stand? They seem to be the hardest of the 3 compressors to find used (not including SMX).
The last batch of DB-CL's was completed in the end of 2013. We only made Opti-FET's and DE-CL's in 2014 and the last of the DE-CL builds should be shipping this week. We will be starting multiple batches of DB-CL's very soon, so most likely, there will be more used units showing up.
