Fearful Part 14: one better than 13!

I sold this whole thing to my wife based on the fact that they could double as PA speakers for all the stuff she does (singer, choirs, plays, directing). We're using them later this month for an elementary school play she is directing. I put tweeters in both cabs. :)

+1, I told my wife they will double as outdoor barbecue speakers.

All my cabs look the same and all my basses are white, and they all live at the studio so missus o'rock doesn't know for certain how many I actually have :)

Lol... mrs mako is right up front at most gigs, so I could never get away with any such shinanigans. Or at least never using more than a single identical cab at once, which would kinda be the whole point of having more. :ninja:

Then again, mrs mako is right up front at most gigs, so it's not too tough to sway her with the "it'll sound even better" argument. As long as it actually delivers on that promise. :bassist:

I'm pretty sure a second 1212/6/1 would deliver. Not sure how to place it though... mirrored and stacked upside down it'd be over 6 feet tall. Yikes!

As if I actually need another... :D

If you're going to do it, do it right. Twin 1515/66's...toed in together at an angle, with a stereo rack on top, with each channel pushing one of the cabs. :)

True, that'd be the way. Same for the 1212/6, I think.

But... wouldn't this be so much more intimidating?

(Apologies to Robby and greenboy for the crude hackjob on their images.)

i'm single, and i survived a death sentence. as long as i can pay rent and the electrical bill, i'm pretty much free to be as dumb as i please :D

I'm aspiring to be a dumb-as-i-like single person (again) and like to think I'm dodging a bullet (if only figuratively). I'm building this cab to distract myself from my unfolding divorce, and to serve as a defiant and symbolic trophy of my reclaimed control :)

I'm in the Chicago are and the Menard's near me has 1/2" Baltic. There is also Owl hardwoods and Wood World who both have it

Hey Mike - been in touch with the folks at Owl Hardwoods. They are very cool and actually the cost for them to cut to spec is really reasonable. I think it is worth my time and one less chance to lose a thumb ;)

Also, the cost for a 5x5 sheet of real baltic birch really isn't much more than using a bunch of 2x2 project panels or a big wavy 4x8 sheet of the fake stuff at the big boxes.

Thanks again for the referral!

While I have searched and perused the estimated 679 pages of Fearful, I have not found my answer so I will pose a question: Has anyone built a Fearful with the port opening on the back? I'd like to build a vintage-style looking cabinet. Any concerns other than maybe making the port a little taller to compensate for slightly less depth of the port?

I know a guy that actually talked to Gordon Gow of McIntosh in the 70's. I remember him and one of their top dealers say that Mac tried to design the upgrade models of an amp style to look very similar so the "boys" could sneak them in to avoid the WAF.
