fEARful part nine (9)

Totally off-the-wall question here: If you build a fEARful properly, the cab is well-braced. But is it strong enough to put a rack or tube amp on top of? We're talking a 70lbs+ here. Not advisable, I'd imagine? Then again...most folks who've built a fEARful aren't using SVTs and the like.

The sprayer is an airless sprayer similar to what painters use to spray houses.

It cost $200 but I bought it to use around the house not for this. My spray booth is just visqueen stapled to some studs in my basement. The "booth" cost me a whole $9.

I should be spraying in about a half hour or so. I'll keep you posted and post pics. By the way I am not going for any kind of texture. I want it to be smooth which is why I'm spraying.

Ah, gotcha. Smooth finish...almost like a powdercoat, "baked-on" type finish that will never come off. I envy your basement. I'll be moving out of this apartment in another two months and into a HOUSE again. I_cannot_wait.

Looking forward to the pics. Good luck!

I think you'd be just fine. I've been handling the boxes and I think I would feel safe standing on one but that's just my opinion.

A temporary spray booth....awesome. My wife is still complaining about the orange overspray on our front deck. I had to remind her she wanted the house without the garage so until I can have one built these things will happen every now and then. Good luck with the duratex.

First coat finished.

Nice work. I envy your workspace BTW. Too much rain in my neck of the woods. Basements do not work, unless you want an indoor pool.

An indoor pool would be awesome! :)

That work space is temporary. That's where I'm finishing my basement. So once I'm done I have to finish that room. No more spraying down there.

That's the texture of the second coat. The grain still kind of pops through but I kind of like. It's still wet though so we'll see what it looks like in a couple hours.

Hey everybody! I was looking to build my own cabinet, and I thought I'd come here to decide which one to build! I play a lot of Alt. Rock, Soul, Contemporary Christian, Indie, and Ska music, and use a 5 string. I need quite a bit of volume, but I live in a dorm room, so I either need something easy to carry down stairs, or something easy to move. I was looking at the 1515 66 but I'm not sure if that is what I'm looking for.

Thanks Mike.

I probably could've gotten away with one 15/6/1 but I thought it would look cool stacked with the one on top upside down. I'll be using them with a DPC1400X bridged. I can't wait to compare them with my Acme LowB 2s.

MonsterBass101: Building a mirrored pair of 15/6 cabs would be much easier to carry up and down stairs. Plus you could start with just one, then build a second if you feel the need.

WCuhna: Please post your comparison. It will be interesting to see if your thoughts match mine when I compared my 12/6 (alpha) to my B2.
