best demo I've seen of any of the GB stuff- great work! Nice to see and hear someone who can play do a nice, simple back and forth. With a good set of headphones the differences were ridiculous. I use that amp, but Bergantino cabs- pretty sure that the F112 sounds as good if not better (obviously different) than the Berg 112s. Got me interested for sure. Two of those should handle any gig ya think (impossible to tell how loud they are via the vid)?? Nice job!!
Yeah the GB cabs will go very loud. One thing the vid doesnt really cover is that even though the GK cab was louder (due to the 15 vs 12 and the honky mids vs smooth tone) the F112 will take WAY more watts... probably 800w without issue.

Also I think this just reinforces that the myth about 15s sounding a particular way (ie deep bass) versus 12s just isnt true.
yeah, I'm gigging 2 Berg HD112s and although they are very impressive, they can't handle all of my gigs- they start to breakup at high volumes when pushed (as I guess I'd expect them to). They hang in there, and don't "fart out", but they lose their overall quality (IMO).

The F112 can take a shocking amount of power...not sure I'd push 800 watts at 8ohms into it. 600 watts? Piece of cake. My power amp puts out 700 watts at 8 ohms and I use it with the F112 all the time. So far so good
True, but it's valid for proving clearly that speaker diameter and tone are not correlated very well at all. It should be stickied IMHO, since that myth seems virtually immortal.
Solid slapping technique. No, speaker diameter shouldn't technically matter. It's just that so many speakers of a certain diameter have a certain tone profile and specs that give them a feel, that the myth persists. So much so, that the myth can almost be true. But, I've been experimenting with the 3012lf and can say that it is as punchy and tight as any 10 I've used. Low qts value.
For fearful videos, I think the one I did with a 15/6 is the best and most honest I've heard. This one is the best upright I've heard. ........Actually, I just rememberd that JGR did some too. His were really good. Alot of the demo's are pretty washed out and blah. This is a good one.

Tonally I'd likely be satisfied with a pair of Barefaced or Thunderchild cabs (I went fEARful because I could build my own, save money and spec exactly what I want in asthetics). These cabs are in a class by themselves IMO. All these 'super cabs' blow all the standard "Guitar Center" enclosures out of the water.
I think that's the point.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but it appears that you EQ'd the amp for the F112 and then expected the GK to sound good with the same EQ settings. I would think that the knobs on the amp are meant for twiddling with different cabs.

I don't think the intent of this clip was to skew the eq to make the F112 'the winner,' but it brings up and interesting point. With enough tweaking you could determine your own winner. Fortunately, lots of folks have a/b'd the major super cabs against commercial cabs and the differences are often substantial
In order for any "sound clip/Youtube" comparison to be valid, absolutely nothing can change. Not the EQ, instrument, mic placement, recording levels...nothing.
That's why I feel the only way to know what any piece of equipment sounds like is to use it live. (And somewhere other than in a music store.)
Yes the voicing was set for how it likes to hear it with his F112 (don't know if his "flat" was flat or just "nooning" the EQ) and looky here this cab sounds different! Yep I hope so

Slade, on youtube look up "chris cole bass fearful" It should come up. I've got many videos comparing cabs. Look up JGR as well, he has even more.
is this the video you're talking about? It's cool as well (nice playing) but it doesn't compare two cabs directly, and you've also modded the cab if I understood your clip. What I personally dug about the vid BASSIST posted is the direct comp of two cabs, without adjusting to make each cab sound like he'd like them to. One could absolutely argue that with the Fearless just enjoys the GK 1001RB at "flat" much better than the GK does, and that the GK cab could be eq'd to sound better, or more similar to the Fearless. I think the vid did a great job of showing the inherent baked in voicing of two cabs. Obviously you can't tell what either cab will sound like on a gig, not sure anyone in their right mind is listening to clips like this and thinking that their stage sound will be like these clips. Super obvious differences in these two cabs though, and if you've played enough gear and gigged enough you can hear it and it can be informative.
