FedEx Nightmare Barefaced FOUND!!! Post 122

I've been really interested in barefaced. How do you like the one that showed up?

I've only got about 4 hours of play time on it but it's really starting to open up. I've read it takes about 6+ hours to really break in. It's pretty incredible that for the first time I'm really hearing every pluck, slap, strum or accidental bump I cause despite the other members ear bleeding thrashing. Yeah it really is all that. Can't wait to have some time to finish the initial break period. Hopefully this weekend at rehearsal.

almost as much time on the cab as on the thread! ;)

I've exhausted them all I guess. Except post my experience on TB to raise awareness about the pitfalls of these "professional" shipping companies and perhaps find a little solace amongst my "peers" without ridicule?? Yeah that...
Sadly, empathy and the ability to simply let another person vent, are things that are all too rare anymore.

If I recall you switched delivery addresses? I get it, that's a sucky situation for sure.

I've had very few issues myself but this has to be the worst considering every aspect of the situation. Like I told FedEx "were not talking about a inexpensive folding chair from Ikea that can just be easily replaced tomorrow"

Disclaimer: I stopped reading after these consecutive posts.

The OP is the one that caused the problems by switching the delivery address mid-shipment. (I've always been told that it can only be done by the shipper, not the receiver based on liability reasons - for example a package gets lost and both the shipper and shipping company is responsible for the loss.)

I wouldn't be surprised if the missing package shows up at the original shipping address in a couple of days and the OP finds another reason to bash FedEx.

I recently bought a dbx unit from a US store to be delivered here in the UK.
The store shipped same day by FedEx, and here is the little package's journey:

I'd love to try one of these someday. I love my tone, but I've always felt hampered by my cabinets, and I'd love to find something that can keep up. I love my Ampeg cabs, but I don't have a way to transport them any longer.

At the end of the day, FedEx didn't lose YOUR speaker. They lost the shipper's speaker. The shipper will have to deal with it. They must also satisfy your original deal. If you specified sequential serial numbers on the front end of the deal, they need to make that right for you. I know losing this item sucks, but it happens. I used to do contract work in a major shipper warehouse. Most losses were NOT employee theft . in those cases it was stuff you could fit in a lunch box (jewelry, etc). What DID frequently happen was de-labeling of a package. If the shipper relies on a plastic baggie for the shipper and packing slip, those items can be detached from the package quite easily. Poorly applied labels can be detached too. Once that happens, the item is held wherever it is as a mystery package. The agents in the warehouse look at it as a lost item. They don't recognize that it is a $100 refrigerator or a $1000 bass speaker. It is a 30 X 20 X 25 box weighing 42 lbs. Someone looking for a package that size might be in luck. It isn't as scientific as you would hope it to be. I hope it has gotten better since I worked that job, but probably not. For this reason I always write the tracking number on the package with a sharpie. Learned this from the agents who were saddled with reuniting the mystery packages with their rightful owners. Even a phone number written on a package can save the day.

Thank goodness that someone has come to warn us of the perils of professional shipping. Why haven't any of of you other guys done this before???

;)

I disagree with you on the part that is in bold.

Since the OP had the shipping address changed in mid-shipment and dropped the ball by letting it happen, the shipper is not obligated to make sequential serial numbers.

I can't speak for anybody else but when I have a problem with a shipping company, I contact the shipper and tell them to sort it out with the shipping company. After that I move on with my life because I am an adult.

I can relate to your pain my friend. I've had a couple run ins with Fedex as well. If it was in Memphis that is the main hub. I would venture to guess that the cab will be there today.

Ok I'll try to keep this long story short. This is only the half of all the follies I've dealt with throughout this ordeal.

I ordered 2 Barefaced bass cabinets. Almost two months ago. What I thought would take 3 weeks took about 7. I finally get the email they're done and ready to ship. Fantastic right?
Last Thursday I get the notice. "They'll be here tomorrow. "Friday"
So I take Friday off "V-day". I get a text from FedEx that morning. "Someone must be at the address at 10:30AM to sign for the delivery".
Waited all day. It never came. I called FedEx and they said "sorry Mid west storm bla bla blah" you'll have to wait till Monday.
I told them I can't afford to take another day off. I want it redirected to a local office for pick up. Sure no problem they told me.
Saturday morning I get a surprise email that they're at the office. Woo hoo! Awesome.
I got to the office and there's ONLY ONE cabinet. "I'm like where's the other one"?
He's like "you're right, I don't know call customer service"
So now I've been on the phone every morning with them since and they have know idea where it is. This had been the most horrific experience in extreme anticipation followed by extreme let down and I'm still completely in the dark with no answers.

Nope. Just read the next 5 or so posts after yours. I guess I just shouldn't be upset At all. Everything is beautiful and cool just like the keyboard commandos who constantly negatively chime in to every thread on here. If it happened to them they'd just laugh it off right?Society has a certain percentage of A-holes from immediately to the end that can't resist making it known.

And for those who believe it's all my fault for Changing the destination.
To reiterate: I blew my Friday waiting for them to show and they NEVER did. I HAD to change it. If you think FedEx isn't at faul for dropping the ball, then not being able to change the destination cause they never followed through to begin with- ITS THIER JOB.

My goodness for that price I would FLY in and pick it up by hand!
I calculated the cost of driving to pick it up, and considered it. However, it was winter, and the drive was like ~1500 miles, r/t. Also, the size of the package was so large that shipping by air was not feasible for me. My real problem was the poor quality of information that the UPS folks provided.

But enough, otherwise I will start foaming at the mouth....

I thought most couriers allowed you to change to the depot after the first attempt. You cannot change it until they have attempted that first delivery. I know UPS functions this way so I would expect the same from Fedex. Regardless, Fedex agreed to do a pickup from the store. If the company was going to have serious errors from a delivery address change request then they probably should have things checked out on their end or not even offer the service. I am just having a hard time understanding how this is not Fedex's fault let alone that it is somehow the customer's fault.
