FedEx Nightmare Barefaced FOUND!!! Post 122

Read the tread. One cab is MISSING, UN ACCOUNTED FOR. The missing cab in question is "supposedly in Memphis Tennessee (even though they can't really discern) I'm in Massachusetts. The original delivery destination is redundant.

I would contact Tom Hanks. He has some friends at FedEx. Oh wait! That was only a movie! Just some light hearted humor you probably don't want right now.

I ordered a bass guitar from the UK and it arrived within 14 days because they used the USPS and the UP Postal Service. Believe it or not, they are pretty reliable. So am I to guess the buyer doesn't have a choice in shippers?

Also, I didn't know a company as established as Barefaced is still building to order? I would have thought they'd have inventory on hand.

I can understand, I bought a bass that had a bad neck and I'm still waiting for resolution nearly 3 months away.

There's something to be said about money in hand and looking at a product before you buy. And then.... Barefaced are so awesome I can understand why people wait and wait for them...

EDIT: FedEx is the McDonalds of shipping. Their employees are paid much less than UPS or the Post Office and most of them are temps just working whatever hours they can. That's how FedEx keeps its rates lower than UPS. So I would guess don't be surprised with issues from FedEx. Whenever I buy online I try to use any other carrier than FedEx.

Please keep us posted. Best of luck to you!

Nightmare... yeah. I won't comment on that, but I'll share my experience with small town USPS.

I had a seller ship USPS (I was not even aware you could ship a bass with them) with no insurance and no signature confirmation. It had an estimated delivery date of the 9th. On the 11th, I looked at tracking, which had the item located in another town 45 min in the opposite direction from me.

Evidently, when they realized it was too large for the delivery vehicle in my area, they just sent it to a different town. I drove to that post office, and when I pulled up to the building, I noticed my name hand written on a box sticking out of the dumpster. It was written in large black Sharpie.

So anyway, I pulled a $4000 bass out of the dumpster behind USPS.

Oh my god. You win!

Hang in there, it will turn up.

If you've ever seen the inside of a large UPS or FedEx hub, it's easy to understand why these two boxes could have gotten separated in transit. I worked at a UPS hub in Denver for three weeks, apart from being the worst job I ever had, it was an amazing labyrinth of conveyor belts and startling collection of miscreants slinging boxes on same to and from trucks in the middle of the night. I was amazed anything ever got anywhere.

I once had the tracking/shipping label from a box sent to me get stuck to another box enroute. UPS dropped off bed linens or something. The box had two shipping labels on it. I got on the phone to UPS and a truck came back out to pick up that box, however my box was now without a shipping label and was marked as delivered (driver scanned it when he dropped off the wrong box with my label stuck to it) - so they had a heck of a time locating my box without a label. Luckily the sticker got transferred at the local depot, so eventually they were able to find it - but it took a week or two longer.

I had a similar problem with FedEx: took a day off only to be notified that the delivery would be a day late.
Luckily with FedEx, you can request to have them hold an item at a FedEx Kinkos, which is what I did.

Sorry to hear about the missing cabinet. That would infuriate me.
Hopefully FedEx will reimburse you for your loss.

I agree. That experience wins the contest here.

FedEx lost my brother-in-law's passport, causing him to miss a prestigious conference in India. They basically said that they had it marked down as "delivered," and that he should go pound sand.

Passports are a high theft item since these sell for alot of money on the black market. I suspect it was employee theft inside FedEx.

If the cab doesn't show it goes back to barefaced responsability. If it's insured they will be compensatedoing. If it's not insured.....it should have been. Unfortunately, shipping insurance has a cap so chances are even if insured it was likely under insured.

Best of luck to you. I shipped an SWR 4x10 cab (in a Genz Benz box) from New York to Arizona two years ago via Fed Ex. The box was lost somewhere in New Mexico. I was able to file a claim with Fed Ex and got what the cab was worth. Somewhere, there's a Fed Ex driver jamming with my old Goliath and I have a new GK.

My horror stories are mostly with the usps. My folks winter in Texas, but also have a house in the Midwest. I've used their address for years to ship to, because it's a safe area and there is always someone there to accept packages, well normally.

For the past four years it's a hit or miss whether a package or other mail will be redirected down to Texas as they have their mail forwarded. I don't, and never have. I have watched packages go into loops through St. Paul, back to Texas, to the residence and state I get my mail, then back again. Once it's in that cycle it will eventually be lost. I've been to the post office and raised heaven over this, showed them via tracking what is going on, and I get lip service.

I finally put a big sign over my mail box with my name, and in bold letters say if this is the name on the package, leave it here. I really wanted to add more, but didn't think that would be in my best interest.

The delivery companies have not had issues, just the usps and their mouth breathing minions that are unable to read or comprehend.

So far they only redirected on piece of mail, my replacement SS card. Yep, somewhere lost in mail space. I'm giving them another week then getting another one. Yay. So it's all across the board. We totally get your frustration as most of us have been there in your shoes.

Good luck.
