I almost did a grave mistake by wanting to trade/sell my 60th...I’m my defence I’m not paying much these days and I got tired of flats. So I was like : “Why would I need 2 P-basses with rounds? I’d rather get Jazz or PJ for a different sound!”. Well, I wanted trade only but got people reaching out wanting to buy this bass. Thank God @MovingPitchers brought back my sanity. She ain’t doing nowhere!

Whew! That was a close one, huh? Kudos to @MovingPitchers for whatever he did that "brought back your sanity."

I've actually now found myself in a similar situation. I have hardly touched another bass since I bought my 60th seven years ago, but a recent and unexpected bout of G.A.S. led me to buy a D. Lakin P-style bass from a fellow TBer. I played it a couple of nights with each of my two bands -- each time planning to switch back to the 60th later in the evening, but each time winding up being unable to put it down. It's a seriously awesome bass. But then, when I finally pulled out the 60th at a practice one night, I was quickly reminded how great it is. So now I have two P-style basses that I love equally, and need to figure out how to give them equal time. One likely possibility is to keep flats on the 60th (as I've been doing for several years) and rounds on the Lakin (which it happened to come with), or perhaps vice-versa. In any event, though, selling the 60th is not an option!

This past February Facebook reminded me that it had been six years since I bought my sunburst 60th Anniversary P. (With a photo from the day that it came home with me.) I bought it in early 2012 brand new at a Guitar Center. It's hard to believe that it has been six and a half years.

I liked my burst 60th P so much that when I was able to buy a blonde one in 2014, I didn't hesitate. I love them both. This photo is them with my 1974 Telecaster bass.

Recently realized that 60th is the bass I’ve had for the longest time. Unusually after 2-year mark I tend to change things, but my 60th stayed with me since 2015. Sometimes I have stupid thoughts about selling / trading it, but then I just take it off the wall and start playing and I say “Oh yeah, this ain’t going anywhere”.
I hear ya. I have basses that I've owned for longer, but none of them have come out of their cases since I bought the Anniversary P new in 2011.

After about 8 years of playing it exclusively, though, I for some inexplicable reason snagged a used D Lakin Bob Glaub from a fellow TBer. Dunno why -- just had to have it. It's as different from the Fender as a P-bass could be in almost every conceivable way, other than sounding very much the same (in large part because the previous owner had installed a Fender pup in it), but I immediately fell in love with it. For a couple of months the Fender then sat in its case and I played the Lakin exclusively, often wondering whether I should sell the P since I had no need for two similar-sounding basses. Before making that decision, though, I decided to bring the P to a band night. Instantly fell in love with it again, now wondering why I had bought a second P-bass when I already had such a great one. Eventually I settled into a pattern of alternating between them.

Eventually, though, I hit upon another idea: I bought a Lakland pickup -- the one in Julie Slick's basses, since I have always loved her tone -- and put it in the Lakin, which now sounds completely different from the Fender (and a lot like Julie's Laklands). So now I have two P basses that are equally great, and a perfectly good reason to keep them both to use for different situations calling for different sounds.

I've owned one of these since they came out in 2011. It was the last bass that I bought. It's been 10 years since I've treated myself to a new bass and was holding out Fender would release a 70th anniversary model this year.
Does anyone know if there will be a 70th anni P-Bass release this year? Is the gold plated 75th anniversary model going to be the only anniversary model Fender releases this year?
