Fender American Design Experience

The raised poles are meant to be under the A. That's how it is on my 57 AVRI, and without measuring your poles appear to be a similar height to mine though the other poles are also partially extended rather than flush with the cover. In any case, if it's causing problems for you then that's all that matters.

Now I'm confused, lol. You're poles are raised under the A, correct? That's where they should be, lefty or righty. What do mean they weren't switched? Could you post a frontal pic maybe?
I thought they were supposed to be under the A as well, and then I saw Fletz's video and his raised poles appear to be under his D string.

Here's a screen shot:

So I guess maybe Fletz's was installed incorrectly?

Or maybe it's a different design?

I'm pretty sure the raised poles are supposed to be under the A. I think Fletz had his installed wrong.

That would be correct. It's an easy enough fix. Maybe Fletz wanted his that way? It'd be interesting to try out and I could see how it would make sense over having raised A poles, as I've played my share of Fenders with weak D strings, though I think that's more of an acoustic resonance issue.

But yeah, traditionally the A gets the raised poles.

Ahhh...the dreaded weak D string syndrome on Fenders...

I agree 100% that there should (and will eventually) be WAY more options available in the future for designing however, it's not a bad start to something that could be amazing. I just hope the company "listens" to what musicians want most. I decided to fiddle around a bit this morning and am really taking a liking to this Duck Dunn-esque mash up...

I like that look, nice. Just wish they wouldn't put a Jazz Bass sticker on every 1.5" neck. (Which they do according to the email they sent me when I asked.) Apparently they put the Jazz stickers on all the 1.5" necks ahead of time rather than waiting until knowing what body is being ordered. Maybe it's easier for them that way.

EDIT: Just scrolled up and saw Fletz got a P-bass sticker on his J-neck so I guess they changed that now.

She showed up today! It is a thing of beauty. I was so excited I created an "unboxing" video and posted it on YouTube. The sound quality when I play it is crummy (I promise to post something better this weekend) but the video shows all you get with it and the experience of opening it for the first time. Enjoy:

LOVE that you included your daughter in this! Awesome!

Second bass is here... I'm at work, so I haven't been able to spend a ton of time with it, but it seems absolutely amazing so far.

8.25 lbs on our shipping scale... and that's an ASH body. SWEET!
