Bought the Pro P bass in white and roseword and truly happy with it. Waiting on flats to come in. came with steel rounds and all the strings ring evenly. Love the tone of the low end. A little more open than what I knew of before. Have not had a P in a long time but what I remembered the new version the low end is more open without being boomy. May have to do with their updates. But I ordered it online and its my first i didnt try before i buyed. But I feel very very lucky. I gigged with it (normally a 5 string player) and surprised only a few mistakes and it cut through the mix very nicely. But P's normally do. I highly recommend to go a try one. Will it be better than your american standard or elite... Maybe. But overall I like their updates. The case is very nice also. The weight is 8.6 which is around what they are. I have seen 8.3 and 9.0... So Its light enough for me. My original P which I had I didnt weigh but I can say it may had been around 11 or more pounds. Puncy and an amazing bass. I bought it used and I sold it and crying. I think it was a 73 or 72 and sold it for a 6 string which i also sold. Now back to a 4 string p bass...a complete circle.

Loving my Pro P.... It was exactly what I wanted. Put flats on it and it sounds great.
I can't find any demos of the Professional Precision V. Please let me know if you find one. Also, why does the four string version offer you maple or rosewood FB for every color, but the five string versions only have one FB option per color?

Yeah I agree about the Am Pro Precision pickup. I found it to sound way less lively and dynamic than the American Standard CS 62' P PU. It actually reminded me of the tone you get from a newish Mexican Standard Precision, which just does not do it for me at all. I think the CS 62' P was the best precision bass pickup fender has produced in a long time.
And I still say he's got a twisted low E string in that video. Can anyone else hear that?

Yeah , the E string does sound a bit weird in the demo. Also, that pickup really reminds me of the Mexican Standard P pickup, which frankly is not a good thing to my ears.

Could be that the strings are brand new on that guitar. I never have really liked the sound of brand new strings on a P bass. I prefer them broken in at least a bit.
Curious what you mean by that. How does it sound different?
I ask because I always feel like my E strings sound less clear and open sounding than any other string.
It's a chorus-like warble that comes as a result of the strings core twisting during the winding process. All one needs to do is re-seat the string so it doesn't twist while winding, plus setting witness points. One reason why I absolutely loathe the HMV bridges for top load is because they are extremely prone to this behavior because of their design. The ball end locks into an upside down "U" shaped slot and is not free floating during winding. I think it's probably one of the worst designs Fender has applied to their bass line. I actually just replaced mine with the non HMV type that came on US Fenders pre '08 and it's one of the best improvements I've ever made to my AmStd. Lighter, no more string twist, grooved saddles, still has optional string through and I like the way it looks better. It's one design I was hoping to see go away with the new AmPro line, but apparently they kept it.
When I compared the pickups on Standard to the Professional I liked the Professional more. Different ears I guess. Having said that I do agree that the CS62 pickup is one of the finest around. I may put one in my Sandblasted Precision. It has the pickup used in the American Special line and while nice, it lacks a bit compared to pickup in my Professional series Precision.
I don't mind the HMV style but I use it string through. I do prefer the old bridges myself. I suspect it remains due to market demands.

Everyone has their own opinion and to tell the truth its a great thing to see. I find the pickups to the new pro series to be great. It is different than the other fenders but all the different models have distinct sound. With the Pro I like the bottom end. To me its more open. I have to be careful not to say bigger. To me the bass is very even and love the frets. But I can see why some would not. I feel I can get faster and the sound seems quick to me anyway. To some it may not. But getting back to the lower end sounding more open, its not a boomy open sound. Its very focused. It just sounds nice and even with a nice open low end.
You don't send an unlike. You can just remove a previous like (unlike) if you liked something mistakenly.
