An American Pro Precision V would go really good with my Jazz!
Jim said that the Jazz I purchased had just come in this week. I'm telling you, this bass set up so nicely. Honestly, I've tried to purchase several Sadowsky's in the past but the ones that I played just never played real well (most were Metro's).
This Jazz V plays like I thought a Sadowsky would (or should) play like!
That one is a Bergantino HDN212. I also have a CDN212. Great cabs.
I played an American Professional Precision at my local Fender dealer a couple weeks ago and was very impressed. I loved the neck, a little chunky but not overly so. And I thought it played and sounded great.
I recently found it that it is supposed to be very similar to the 63 P neck with a narrower nut. Very Comfortable playing bass!

I'm a budget conscious dude. So I play imports for the most part. I have been impressed by the quality and playability of the Vintage Modified Squiers and Korean Jack Cassidy Epi. I like vintage tone. The new Fender P was calling me though. The only one I could play was two hours away and all they had was an Olympic white one. I was kinda beaming on the vintage olive. I was prepared to walk out of I didn't absolutely love everything about it even though I already have a white J. When I walked up to the bass wall what hung in front of me made me flinch in anticipation of this financial blow that I may be taking on. It was a vintage olive/rosewood P. Turned out that they just received it. It wasn't even on the website yet. So I A/B'ed it against the Olympic white Am Pro, and an American Standard. To be fair the olive Pro was the only one with new strings. But i am not a fan of new strings. The Olympic white Pro had clearly been abused in the store. I would have walked right out on that thing. The Am Std was built well. Really well. I watched as the store luthier adjusted the pickups to the same height,1/4" to the strings. The Am Standards volume, resonance, and intonation wasn't even in the same ballpark as the Pro in my oppinion. So I bought it. Biggest investment since the Yamaha Motif I got when they first came out like fifteen years ago. I have spent a few day with the new Pro now and am very happy with it. Ok I'm more than happy with it. I am hearing notes that i though that my roadworn tinnitus infested ears would never hear again. If you can afford it, get one. If not, hit me up. I have a few Squiers for sale.
Wow a nice story.... While reading I get the feeling the bass picked you than the other way around.
I got my Am Pro last week from Sweetwater. Fit and finish is incredible, neck is super comfortable, weight is just right. I can't stop playing this bass.
I'm on the fence about the pickups though, output is low compared to what I'm used to. I've got a set of Geezers and a set of Nordy NP4's that I might swap in. Not sure which ones yet.

You are probably right. The stars were aligned. And the sales guys name was Swamprat too. Go figure. No really though we have the same name, Aaron. It was meant to be. Lol
I love the stock Vmod pickups in the Pro. And I am a tweaker. I change stiff for no reason alot. I have some Geezers in another P of mine that I like also. But the way the Vmods are able to be articulate yet still maintain a vintage sounding tone is the bees knees for me. And with the tone all the way up they can get grimy like the Geezers do.

I really like how the Vmods sound no doubt. The low output just bugs me a bit. I have to adjust me pedals to account for that. They do sound great though.
Have you tried raising the pickups? 1/4 inch from the strings has been Fender spec for years. I'm not sure if it is different on the Am Pros. But the old spec worked for me.

Yup, raised the pickups and set the action nice and low when I set it up.
My other basses all have hot pickups or are active so these are probably just normal. It's not really an issue at all, just have to make a little gain adjustment.
Think I'll just keep my 96 american standard. How much better can it be?
