Fender Bassman 100T - chapter 2

If thats the case then whats so hot about the 25 watt silent mode on the 100T?

They're totally different animals. The 100T has a 25 watt power soak built in, so in silent record mode, or any of the modes for that matter, the D.I. is post power tubes in "post" position, so you get all the groovy power tube mojo when you push it. The SB300's D.I. is a standard D.I., where the "post" position is post preamp gain and eq.

LOL, I was just coming back here to post something along those lines, but you beat me to it.

FSR Blonde/Oxblood 100T and 4x10 are ordered. Now all I have to do is wait for a month until they start shipping them out.

Dan

I love that color combo........my 100T/410 Neo rig is all classic black and silver but I have several FSR Fender amps.

Last year, I got myself the Deluxe Reverb in the Cabernet/Wheat and it's simply beautiful. I've also got a Supersonic 60 watter in the color you're getting and it's quite a lovely girl as well.

It almost seems illegal to have these cool colors on a Fender amp but us bass players like to live on the edge - don't WE!!

Well, tried one out today into a fender 610 (which I use)..
Sounded cool but zero headroom, even at a moderate (real world small gig type thing) level it was getting pretty gritty.. Which I liked.. But it was definitely fuzzing out pretty quick and it wouldn't take long before it would be maxed.

You have to play with it a bit. In the OD channel with the blend at 1 it's super clean and you can get it plenty loud.

I made the mistake at first of assuming that vintage channel was the clean channel, it is not. But what sounds good soloed in the music store (scooped and clean) doesn't translate to a mix and vice versa.

Of course everybody's tone goals are different.

You need to learn how to use it.
There are plenty of us using this head in loud bands with out getting into full distortion.

What do yall think about the temp control? Anybody using it?

I have played with it some.
I do not have the stock GT tubes in mine (they were pulled right away).
I found that it can make a difference with different tubes how the go into break up.

With TAD's one bump hot works great
With Winged C's I like one bump cold works best for me

At low volumes I find the full cold on the vintage channel you can get a super mellow creamy tone.

Hi Guys,
Have started to see an issue with the bias indicators on my 100T where the 2 outer lights(2A and 2B) are a steady orange while the inner 2(1A and 1B) are green. I don't see this specific scenario described in the owners manual. This doesn't happen all the time and the performance of the amp does not appear to be affected. Any thoughts on this? I did pull the back off and all the tubes appear to be seated properly and the fuses look fine. Thanks for any help.

Statement: The more I play with this head, the better I like it. I'm not ready to call it bullet proof yet but I will say with all the certainty that a 40 year musician can muster that this is absolutely, positively the best all around tube head I've ever owned!!

I am very pleased with how it performs and I'm way past the honeymoon phase!!
