Really enjoyed the NEO 410 tonight. The Fender cabs are just designed to match up nicely with these heads. When we took a break at rehearsal, I went ahead and put the Winged C's in. Definitely seemed to give the amp a little more headroom. I found myself turning up the drive to get the same amount of grit. Really happy with this rig!

Any updates on how you're liking the 410?

I'm sure I'd love that.
I need to never play one.

I don't normally post a lot here (but I do browse a lot and it's ALWAYS a very helpful/entertaining read), but my Fender Bassman 100T is being delivered today (very psyched) and one thing I was wondering about that I haven't read in these threads yet are about the advanced XLR technologies in this thing. I heard the signal that the XLR outputs is actually post power-amp, so you get the power amp overdrive into the DI. When I heard this, it really intrigued me, because I use gain with my bass as I'm in a Sludge Metal/Stoner Rock/Post Hardcore type of band, but I always have to use my Bass Big Muff or my Boss ODB-3 instead of natural amp distortion, as my Orange Terror Bass is only 1-channel :(. And at certain venues they REALLY insist on DI'ing the bass, so my tones always sounded artificial, over bearing, and bad, because I had no time to adjust my stompbox settings to accommodate the fact that I'm using the DI. Also, when my band was recording our demo, we had the same results with my overdrive/fuzz from my bass when we tried to DI the bass. So we just ended up mic'ing up (which I was totally fine with).

So, I was wondering how nice the DI is for gigging/recording, and how the DI volume knob is for gigging/recording as well. It was a major selling point for me when I bought it, besides the amazing tones I have heard from demos so far.

Also, will post my amp when it gets here. I'm sure I will explode in my pants once the delivery guy hands the 46 pound package to me. :)

man do i want one of these. can't fit the big stuff in my car anymore tho, and this deserves big cabs...

I have to play mine out of a Behringer 4x10 instead of the Neo cabs :/ I feel like I'll look like an idiot with an mediocre-average cab and a stellar amp on stage.

BTW: The 4x10 weighs 100 pounds and has **** casters on only 1 side of the cab. I got it brand new for $200 when they usually go for $360. You get what you pay for.

I'm liking it a lot. I am still getting used to it and tweaking eq and drive amounts on the overdrive channel. I feel like it takes a little work to find just the right spots. Playing with all that tube amp overdrive can be a bit tricky in the sense of dialing everything in just right.

I really think the cab was a good choice matching up with the 100T.

Agree! This is the best 410 cab I have heard. Sounds so awesome with the 100T. I wonder what two 410s sounds like. Or what a 412 would have sounded like?

I haven't had a chance to record with the head yet. Others here have, so they can comment on that. I've had sound guys rave about the sound coming out of the DI, but the (very) few times I've allowed another bassist to play through my rig, it was smaller gigs with no bass FOH support, so I haven't heard it personally. There seems to be a LOT of gain available at the DI output, I suppose up to and beyond a full +4dBu. The sound guys usually have me lower it down to around 1.5 or 2 on the output knob, which I'm guessing would be the normal instrument-level they're used to dealing with.

I receive my Winged C's today. Look forward to try them this weekend. Both because of the sound difference and I still get orange and red bias lights with the stock tubes.

Although I don't have this head, I used 4 Winged C's in my MusicMan HD 150 head and they did make a difference in tone from stock tubes. Added a little more girth and chunkiness overall. Never got a chance to really crank it, but it did seem somewhat louder at compararble volumes to the stock tubes.

This is exactly the way I would describe the difference the Winged Cs made to my 100T. When I put them in I thought there was clearly more clean volume/headroom and a slight lack of transparency and openness at the top. When I recently replaced the original Groove Tubes after about a year with the Winged Cs the openness at the top returned and the dirt arrived a bit earlier. For my purposes, since I also own a Super Bassman 300, it makes sense to stick with the Groove Tubes but I also think that tonally I might prefer them anyway.

Installed rhe 'Winged C' tubes this afternoon. It is a bit different tone. Haven't made up my mind if I prefer it to the stock tubes yet. I know I have to use them a bit more to fully break them in.

Halfway during rehearsal I had distinctly louder humming from the amp than before. After a while of playing it went back to normal. Anyone else experienced this?

I have had a problem with two bias led lights going orange and red in standby mode, this seemed to be sorted with new tubes. I'll keep my breath and use it a few more times and then see if it needs a service or not.

My 100T is set for delivery on Tuesday. Will use with 2 SVT210AV's for now with an eye on the 410 NEO cab in the future.

For those who have replaced the preamp tubes, what have you been using and what results are you seeing? I just ordered a blackplate RCA and Amperex/Philips 12AX7 for it (along with a USA 12AT7). Not sure which I want to put in V1 and which in V2. I assume V1 is the vintage channel and V2 the overdrive?

I bought these tubes because I plan on this being my guitar head as well. Plus, I've never tried a Bugleboy ax7 and Brent Jessee has the Philips mini watt equivalent for half the price of a branded early 60's Bugleboy. Same factory, same date codes and construction etc..

Gotta wait on power amp tubes. Sounds like the GT are decent from reading this thread. I do have 4 GE 6L6's sitting here, but no idea on if they work or not.
