My two Custom Shop P Basses are fast becoming my favourite basses so far. They just play, sound and feel exactly the way that I've always imagined "a bass guitar" should - can't get on with boutique or Star Wars basses, personally :atoz:.

That is just gorgeous.

Reminds of this guy (though I just realized his is the 70s version):

Hello All,
I just fell in Love with it as soon as I saw it on their website and after a mental wrestle with myself (buying blind, price, import duty, VAT, great piece, great price, etc!) and a few emails with the man here we are :D

What we have here is the base model of the '59 re-issue P bass in terms of specs with the additions of a Custom Shop Jaco jazz bass bridge pickup, a Badass 2 bridge and a Chrome pick guard with Vol, Vol, Tone controls, a side mount jack socket and 70's TV logo. It is finished in Black Pearl, New Old Stock.

I appreciate that this is a serious 'Love or Hate' bass but enjoy the pics! (more/better pics to follow in due course)

Fender CS instruments are really the Bees Knees. Whenever I hear folks say that there is really no difference between Fenders CS instruments, and American Standards, I assume they have never played a Custom Shop bass and heard the way it sits in the mix with a band. Just my opinion of course, but I have owned 2 and played many.

Another happy Fender Custom Shop bass owner here!

I have a 2008 CS Jazz in translucent Bing Cherry. I swapped out the stock noiseless stacked humbuckers with Lollar single coils. I also swapped out the stock preamp with a John East J-Retro Deluxe preamp, and I added a chrome "ashtray" pickup cover.

Me likey! The tone is spectacular!

It's shown in the pics below on the right, along with my 2010 Rick 4003 w/Hipshot bridge and toaster-top neck pickup, and my 2008 US Lakland Glaub P bass w/J neck and Lindy Fralin neck pickups.
