Fender FSR Roasted '58 P

@FenderOli - would you mind throwing a while pearl guard on there? I'm curious what it would look like brightened up a bit. Thank you in advance good sir.

Two grand is crazypants. Maybe I'll try roasting my own unfinished body over a campfire.


It doesn't work like that. The wood needs to be thermally modified before any cutting, because the heat modifies the structure of the wood. Usually it's done in a vacuum kiln.

So yeah, you could throw an already made body in the oven....but it's unlikely that any of your parts will fit it properly afterward.

That price is the same as a regularly finished AV '58. Kind of surprised it isn't more...

I like the looks, wouldn't mind an AV '63 with just a roasted neck.
Yeah, that neck would probably look great with some of the '63 colors.

I would think the cost of a nitro finish and cost of roasted woods cancel each other out. From my experience painting in my garage nitro takes a long time to cure. Maybe Fender has a way to speed up the curing process but I'd guess it's still more labor intensive and time consuming than poly or whatever "thin" finish they are putting on this model.
