That demo o/d level is useless for judging the sound of this bass and I can't imagine why they went this way -unless it sounds crap otherwise? At least this alternates pick/fingerstyle.

Again, the Thundertron is the appeal to me, here.

Yup. Thundertrons on gretsch are excellent--on a P would be fun. This is giving me Frankenstein-ideas/gas.

I really like it! Fat, plenty of low-mids, the finger tone was really good IMO.

Well,
if I buy a bass in the US for $599, I have to pay about $60 to ship it to germany. Then I have to pay toll and vat on it - and it would be = 622 Euro.
The dealer in germany wants to earn money and has his bills to pay, so 719 is ok.
I was afraid, it would be more expensive.

1) Fender Germany is a 100% daughter of Fender USA.
2) Shipping 500 or more Cabronita basses in a container with ofter instruments to Germany doesn't cost $60. It may cost $5 per instrument.
3) Fender Germany (as a 100% daughter) could get the bass for the building price plus shipment and sell it with adding a "service & marketing price".
4) Taxes have to be payed in the USA as well as in Germany. The "Big T" has no other costs than American music stores, too ...
5) $1 is less 1 ...
For 599 there would already be about 20% bonus. So, we have to pay about 40% more for the same instrument ...

I meant if I would buy a bass directly from an american dealer (which I would do, of course!), within shipping, tax, toll, vat etc. it'll cost app. 622 .
You're right, it's Fender direct company sale in germany, but there is not only the dealer round the corner who wants to earn money and has his own costs.
It's Fender/USA - Fender/germany - a wholesaler in germany - the transport company (or companies) in germany - and the local dealer. And the local dealer has to pay for the bass and has to wait for a customer to buy it. 1 day, 1 week, 1 month, or 1 year....
Fender/germany and Fender/USA are not the same money. In big companies with daughters, it's called f. E. "Fender dollars"...;-)
If Obama and Merkel would agree on a free trade zone US/EU - we could buy cheaper...
Most german musical instruments are more expensive in the US as they have to be: Warwick f. E.
(cars aren't: Mercedes, BMW, Audi and Volkswagen are cheaper in the US, and every german customer subsidizes one customer in the US. That's life)
Unfortunately the body of the cabronita p-basses will have the hole under the pickguard like the Squier classic vibe precision bass, I presume.
No bass for me - the first thing I would do is chop off the PG...;-)

I'd agree, I like bass dirt/fuzz etc at least as much as most folks do, but an all-dirt demo is as useless as those that other companies do that are all slappity-tappity.
I like that fingerstyle tone a lot actually. The crazy-overdriven pick tone is pretty useless for a demo IMHO.

Even it's a neat trick, it's a one trick pony. I thought it was cool before watching the YouTube video. Is there really a market for a one trick pony these days? Even the much hated Reverse Jag was capable of more tones than this. It's a shame actually.

Yes, I still have issues playing a Chinese Fender. I feel like they're re-branding a Squier and upcharging me for it. I've also been a little disappointed with the two (Chinese) Modern Player Teles that I've tried.
