Fender logos on Squier basses...

If squiers are so great, why does everybody want to rub the decal off the headstock?

probably because of the bias of others who insist that squiers are bottom tier junk

yeah yeah yeah i know who cares, well if you walk into a studio or band audition and someone had this bias you'd never land the gig and your out money

now some may say "well just get a fender" but what if your squier is incredible, plays and sounds great. I've played some squiers that will give any american fender a run for its money.

so what do you do? do you go drop substantial coin on an instrument that may not be as good as your current one, or do you fudge the headstock so you can work right under the noses of these bias individuals?

and i'm sure i'll get the "that doesn't happen, yadda yadda" but if you say that then you're calling plenty of tb'ers liars, because guess where every story i've heard of these types of things happening have come from?

Any of you who say Squier is just as good as a Fender really have no clue what so ever! You might think it feels good because its the only bass you play. once you play each level of bass Fender makes for any amount of time you can see and feel the quality difference. I suck at bass and I dont have a job yet have 2 selects and 2 AVRI. why because they are much better basses with better fretwork and better fit. only untill I got those basses was I able to get the action low enough to improve. They are so nice they make american standards feel like squiers. So you 18 year olds who put Fender stickers on your squiers can fool yourself and others all you want....but you will still have a $200 indonesian slapped together fret sticking out cheap squier....and until you buy something better you wont know the real difference.
Fender used to just sell Fender and it was hit or miss on quality. now everything is exact. they want you to have that crap bass so you can save up to buy a better bass! and each step up is just that much better quality.
Try playing a squier after playing a select....It feels so awkward and uncomfortable....like a 6 year old indonesian made it.
I am sorry to people who can't afford a better quality bass and have to try and stick up for their squiers saying they are just as nice....but its pretty sad. If I couldnt afford a nice bass and had to play a squier I wouldnt be spouting off how its just as good as an american....that just looks so sad. The reason people look at you funny and dont hire you with a squire is if you cant afford to spend more then $150 on a bass you shouldnt be taken too seriously! If a session musician came in with a squier I would find someone else!

I remember guys in high school who would rice out their base model Civics and put "Type R" stickers on them. This is no different.

this is one instance where being older had it's advantages.

the back row of our high school parking lot had a 69 buick GSX, a 70 chevelle, a 67 chevelle, a 69 firebird, a 69 road runner, a 68 mustang GT/CS and my 66 GTO (the mustang and the firebird were both owned by girls)
The rumble of big American V8s has a cool factor all it's own. This group of us always parked together, and we had our own team for the high school drags. It seems like there were always pics of our cars in the school news paper

Just... no.

Would it blow your mind to know that some people can afford Fender but choose Squier? Or that some people own both?

I'm happy for you that you enjoy your basses, less so that you feel you have to justify them by putting down anything cheaper.

You "suck at bass" but are better at telling apart differing levels of basses than a lot of players who are good?

Impressive.

There is so much fail in this post.

My VM Jazz is a great instrument with absolutely no fret sprout. After a minor fret dressing, it can achieve an extremely low action that will rival any US Fender.

(From "Billy Madison", 1995)

"Mr. Madison, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul."

I actually stopped laughing at this long enough to consider that this guy might have actually been serious.

Instead of the logo´s, maybe someone should come up with a "Headsock", a fashionable piece of clothing for the headstock.
