Scroll through some of the pix in this thread...there's at least one member here who slapped a pearloid on their Seafoam Green, and I think it pops!

I really, really dislike pearloid guards in general (my first non-bass guitar was an early 90’s sunburst Hondo Strat w/pearloid guard, it was godawful disgusting) but let me say that the aged pearloid really works on the new JMJ...

Thought about going with a really light orange tort Spitfire guard before seeing my JMJ in person. It’s just perfect.

I imagine any number of pickups would do, such as this one: GFS HOT Pro Series Jazz Bass Bridge Pickup OUR BEST!

All I needed was something hot and a bit snotty, and only to make the middle switch setting sound a bit nicer. It worked in both capacities, but a cheap, ceramic Jazz bass pickup is never going to be an authority on tone. The bridge pickup on the Mustang is very close to the bridge!

Is it rattle from the string itself, or just some buzz elsewhere? Check the bridge springs & make sure they're not doing something weird, perhaps?

Also worth a check (& you probably know this already, but worth a look) : are you winding the E correctly on the tuner post? (i.e. top down) That type of buzz often happens on Fender type headstocks, but it's usually the A.

Thank you for helping out, my mistanke - I oo course mean the nut and not the saddle. I will follow your advice, restring the bass, and see if that solves the problem.

No, I didn't do the paint job. A newly found luthier friend of mine gave me a special price because I wasn't in a rush (so he could do it as a fill in between jobs) and I supplied him with the stripped down, bare body so all he had to do was sand and paint. All I had to do was re-assemble. A spray painter I am not, I would just make a mess :rollno:.
