Fender Mustang Club

Has anyone found a case for the mustang? I have the Fender hard case they make for short scales but I’d like something more form fitting. Like the Mono M80 case, but not as snug of a fit.
I’m okay with the deluxe Fender gig bag that my JMJ came with but I’m certainly in the market for a hard shell.. the new ones branded Fender are upwards of $200 new and I’m kind of unwilling to pay that much at this point. I’m hoping they’ll come out with something along the lines of the fancy P & J cases that are readily available (choice of tolex color / tweed + orange or red lining!)
I bought a deluxe Precision case for my old P back in the year 2001 that I really miss (tannish brown tolex w/ bright orange lining, it was gorgeous.)

Not a fan of the bag my JMJ came with, and the Fender hardshell case is heavy and clumsy. The Gator ProGo is the best of both worlds...can wear like a backpack, not too heavy, lots of protection, and tons of useful pockets

I’ve got an SKB case that fits the most popular body styles (p, j and stingray) and it’s form fitting. I like that a lot but I’d like something like the mono cases that you can wear as a backpack but isn’t a gig bag. If not, I’d take a short scale version of the form fitting SKB case I have.

Check out some of the videos online for the Gator ProGo...it’s called a gigbag, but really, if you look at it, it provides as much protection as a hard shell case almost....and it fits the Mustang

Although it isn't form fitting, I have a Gator hardshell guitar case. Am pretty sure it is this one :

If you like, I can check the model # & get back to you, but am 95% certain it's that one. :)

It fits the Mustang well.

EDIT: see next message in this thread. The correct model # is GC-ELEC-XL.
That'll teach me to be 95% certain.... ahem....

I’m pretty sure you’re referring to the XL guitar case by Gator (GC-ELEC-XL). I have one for my Mustang and it’s a sweet snug fit. Although I had to push back the foam at the headstock just a tiny bit.

The ‘regular’ Gator guitar case is not long enough for a Mustang. Just my 2 cents.

Not sure which Gator ProGo at the moment...I know it is intended for guitar and I removed the bottom "bump" pad that is in with velcro, and it's a perfect fit. The interior is very soft and has a neck support, and the outside pockets are amazing....padded sleeve for a large iPad or laptop, pockets for stings and things, etc

Is it the G-PG Electric? ([Invalid or Expired Link Removed])

Cool, thanks for the tip. Looks like a good solution!

My local music shop had them in stock, and I was able to test it before purchasing it. I did have to remove the bottom "bump pad" which is in w/ velcro...but the case is leaps and bounds better than the crappy Fender gig bags (I have a couple), and so much more convenient than the Fender Mustang hardshell case, since you can carry so much with it. I no longer have to bring a separate bag w/ my iPad and other equipment...

You are correct - that is the one I have & not the standard one.

GC-ELEC-XL is the model. Thanks for the correction!

How tight is the fit on the headstock in that case? It looks like a tight fit.

I worried about it being too tight as well, but it was just right. The lining is almost two inches thick, and is super soft and pliable and the zipper closes with no trouble / force (picture below makes it look like it doesn't fit, but the it does). I did have to take the removable pump pad out of the bottom, but there's still plenty of padding.

I honestly think I have my last bass case hopefully!

I had a rehearsal last week and literally everything I needed was in the case and on my back (and a 4-pack of Guinness under my arm)...
-Fender JMJ Mustang (I named her "Daphne" for obvious reasons)
-Ampeg SCR-DI (my amp) and power plug
-Instrument cable(s), extra stings, Earos (ear plugs)
-iPad, iPhone, cables, Vinsic power bank, AirTurn BT-106 (page turner for iPad)

Besides protection, it's come down to weight for me. This weights only 6.5 lbs., and if you add the weight of the instrument, I've found this to be the best trade-off of weight and protection.

But I'm not trying to sell anything, so you guys use what fits your needs best!

Well it looks like that’s what I’ll be getting then. Thanks for the recommendation.

Nice! Though, if this bag were made in Ireland, it would have had a pocket for that 4-pack.
