Thats why there are many different options out there. Different people have different needs! I am a full time player doing sessions, production shows, touring, club dates etc, and for me these strings have the versatility I need. Medium scale fits better IMO on these basses. The tension will be a TOUCH lower with them as well than the SS set.

The place a folded clean dry towel under the strings st the bridge end to keep them up and while they air dry for 15 mins. Then tune up and check if successful. There have been a couple of times I had to repeat the process but not many.

Okay, I gave 'em a good wipe down with 91% isopropyl and let 'em dry for 15 minutes, but they still feel sticky to me. I think I just need to get used to the way half rounds feel after 31 years of playing round wounds exclusively.

Very cool! I've got one just like it, only with a Curtis Novak Dark Star humbucker replacement. Paid a grand for mine. It's in mint condition and yes, the CN's are a bit pricey. Came with the original Fender HB included. May throw that on a Musicmaster build. Looks like we're taking this Pawn Shop thing to the next level.

oh cool, man i'm all about my pawn mustang, in fact i just bought a mij fiesta red mustang, and a curtis novak wide range humbucker, and a pickguard made for the humbucker, my own pawnshop style, love'm

I am sorry that didn't work for you. I do agree that the stcky feeling can be irritating. That is why I called DA because I don't need anything else diverting my attention. My brother who has 60 years of guitar experience suggested Acetone but I feel that is entering "to much work" territory for this issue. Time and use sound more reasonable to me.
I will be on the look out in the future to see if it happens.

It didn't seem to work for ALAD so I wouldn't count my chickens. Wiping strings right out of the package is a lot less energy than after installed. There could be other mitigating circumstances goin on as well, like using a different preservative and changes like that. But for a pack of strings that otherwise work well I myself wouldn't go further into it.

Ok I am going to stir the pot a bit.
Is there manufacturer that makes a drop in ultralite machine head for the Mustang PJ? I am well aware this question has been beaten to death here on TB and offer my apology's in advance but I can't for the life of me find the answer again. I emphasize drop in as I just received my set of HB6C 3/8 and due to my physical limitations I will not be able to install them. Trying to drill a hole with a 4+ tremor and varying degrees of numbness in my left thumb, fore finger, and middle finger will just not happen. I don't care about exposed mounting holes but I do about off center bad angled and unusable ones. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Decent looking budget case for the Mustang:

I was looking at the Rondo cases and it seems they've discontinued their short scale bass case. So I started checking dimensions of the guitar cases and this one looked like it might fit. Took a chance and ordered and it came in today....Perfect fit except for top strap button needs a tiny push to seat it in the foam. Seems to be a pretty nicely made case for 65 bucks weighing only 7lbs. Here's the link Douglas EGC-250 EXP Tweed Case - RondoMusic.com

What a coincidence! I emailed Rondo just yesterday asking about their short scale bass case. Looks like they will have them back in stock soon. Here's the email conversation:

Hi, I’m looking for a hard shell case for my Fender Mustang Bass. When will the Douglas BGC-200 3/4 BK Short Scale Bass Case be back in stock?
Response from Rondo: Yes that case fits - we hope to have around the 2nd week of July

That being said, the Tweed Case from Rondo looks amazing with the JMJ Mustang! How does the total length of the bass fit? Does the case put any pressure on the top of the headstock or the bottom strap button?
