Sure. ‘53 on top, strung with TI flats. Don’t know the history of this one, sadly.

Next up, ‘59 P-Bass. My favorite. Super light, 8lb on the dot. Strung wit TI flats I put on there in 2005. Bought this one from the original owner. It’s the bass used on the Slim Harpo Albums. Played to death, but still has the original frets. Nothin’s ever been done to this bass, it’s bone stock.

Next up is a ‘64 P-Bass. Came from another old local Blues guy. Ancient purple sparkle refin. I think it has flats on it in the picture, but it is set up now with Dogal Hellborg rounds.

Next is a ‘61 stack knob Jazz I got from a friend I used to play with. He was the original owner. It’s fretless, and has been since at least the 1970s. It’s an unbelievable instrument in every way. It has the singiest, most musical tone. Sounds like a cello. TI flats on it as well.

Bottom is a ‘68 Jazz I picked up recently. Bone stock Olympic White, never has had a screw turned on it. Don’t know its history. Dogal Hellborg roundwounds.

My 62 slab P and late 58P. Both sound and play amazing. The late 58/early 59 is a time capsule, all case candy even the cool instruction manual. 62p was a main bass for a pro that toured with some of the Latin music greats

My '64 Jazz is the sunburst one, gets me in.
The red '65 is no slouch either, but is cbs.

1960* Jazz for my 60th!

*(most recent) Refinish - 2106

This bass bears the mark of a factory refinish - a 4-digit embossed stamp on the neck heal.
Evidence points to 1964 as the year it was returned to Fender. The reasons why are lost to history.
*Apparently, it was just more practical for Fender to replace the body than it was to refinish it.
(After all, Leo designed parts to be replaceable, and disposable!)
The body was replaced with a '64, or possibly a '63 (??), as it appears the individual mutes continued to be used after the factory refinish, and the brass ground strap continued to be the sole bridge ground.

Original slab neck & tuners dated 10/60.
Pots (39th wk of 60)
Control plate, knobs, bridge, and bridge cover are original.

Me too! There's something about that SCPB-sound!

SCPB are my fave. They record great and they can sound pretty modern. I have two 1954 P-basses, and they are the basses that get played most at gigs.

How did the recording go with the SC hum? I brought one of mine to a session recently, and the engineer was not happy with the noise - had to switch to my to my 60’s p.
