Yeah I had mine off and was surprised how thin and pliable it was and it seemed to be polyethylene. ABS is quite hard in comparison.
So my band just finished a 5 song EP and I ended up playing my '61 P on every track because it just sounded so good! And I got to thinking (I know, dangerous).. there's a lot of great pics of old Fenders on this thread, but why not post some sound clips too?! Here's mine, bought from Denmark Street back home in London in around 89. She's a re-finish done way before I owned her, in terms of shape her neck is absolutely beautiful. Strap locks obviously, I replaced E tuning peg with Hipshot D-tuner in the early 90's, took off the volume and tone control knobs because I never liked them and I like the bass without. They're probably somewhere in a box in my mothers loft. Ive never removed the pickguard but I did remove the neck once and it had a Dec 63 date on it which was interesting because it was sold to me as a re-finished 1964. I was never interested in what was original or not in terms of pick-ups, pots, machine heads, strap pins etc, it just spoke to me in the store and it's been my go to ever since and its never ever let me down. I will never sell her so losing value means nothing to me, this has been my main tool for 28 years and that has much more value.
She's also been with me on every live date I've ever done. It can be heard on a few records, "Tossing Pennies" by Billy Mann, "The Hearts A Lonely Hunter" by Desperado, "See You At Sunrise" by Desperado, the whole "Shut Up" album by Kelly Osbourne, "Paid My Dues" by Anastasia and I think I used it on some Lionel Richie tunes also but I can't remember.
Anyway, she's my girl and she's put up with all my turns and hopefully she continues to.
She's also been with me on every live date I've ever done. I got my B15N back today from the shop and cleaned it up. figured I'd take some pics while I had it out in the kitchen cleaning.

IMHO it even should be encouraged more (sound or video clips instead only just pics of the basses)... and I love your bass sound in that clip even from the first note of it, Great great bass sounds of a fantastic looking bass ...Kudos & thanks for sharing..wish you & your band 60 Grit Blues Band many big good luck in the future.
Mine is a march 63 94XXX serial and I agree about the pickup. Mine is the best and most authoritative I have ever played.

Wow! What a coincidence, the band I play in also just recorded a 4 song album and I too used my 61 Pbass it turned out really good cant beat that vintage tone, you can listen to it on Wall-eyed Band camp,the title of the album is I wanna wreck your car...check it out
