I brought home a mucho expensivo boutique cab Friday & really wanted to love it. Yesterday I got it out again hoping it was just a bad day for my ears or something, but I still preferred my cheap Rumble.
My rule going forward is "try before you buy", and I'll probably stick to Rumbles for the rest of my playing life.

I'll second that for sure. I think Fender did a very good job of pairing the speakers to the amps.
When the V3 Rumbles were being designed, Dave Lewis & Team worked in harmony with Eminence engineers to design wholly new drivers and cabinet designs. Perfectly ported too. I prefer the tone of my Rumble 100 v3 combo to my Ampeg V4-B/SVT112x2 setup. Don't tell Jimmy.
As much as I love my Rumble 500 and 2 210s I still think about the SVT I had. This may sound strange to some of you, like "*** is that guy using for ears" but the first thing I thought about the sound of my rig now was how it satisfied the same way the SVT did when I first fired it up. I was using 2 Acoustic 215s so it wasn't the full on 810 experience but it sounded awesome. In any case the sound of this 500 and 2 210 cabs is kind of a deja vu to me. Quite pleasing to the ear, Jeeves, can you turn it up a notch or two my good man?

I gotta be honest - my son is 9 and just started playing bass. He has an Ibanez Mikro and a Fender Rumble 40. At less than $500 his sound is to be envied!

The first bass I ever played on was a 1970's Bassman 4x12. It was so loud it sort of scared me to play it. It rattled my chest. A lead player taught me a section of a Hendrix run and had me repeat it while he improvised Hendrix stuff.

Fender Bass Amps:
When I 1st got into playing bass back in 69, bands were using Fender amps and usually Bogan columns for PA with a Bogan M60 or M120 with Shure audio mixers. My 1st decent amp was a Fender Bassman w/small 2x12 cab. Those bassman amps could not hang with a super reverb and a loud drummer. The Fender bassman got pushed aside by the Kustom 200, Sunn, but mostly the Acoustic 360/370 and Ampeg SVT. Fender at that time had just been bought out by CBS and the quality started to go south. Fender came out with the Showman and Dual Showman and I think the Super Showman but, by that time players had already been turned off by the drop in quality. I am so happy to see the quality of the Rumble line of bass amps. Good solid stuff and a reasonable price.

Is Bogan really a brand name?
Close, but it's actually Bogen, which has a very long and reputable history in the corporate and institutional sound markets.
It's amazing since I've belonged to TB either as an interested lurker or as a member of different forums here, but it seems many many bass players have their beautiful guitars and sometimes amps in the lounge room (aussie's generally call our entertainment/TV rooms lounge rooms although the term entertainment room is taking over..UK tend to call them Living rooms as my English wife explained to me loll)..anyway I digressed...again..err..oh yeah..I keep my guitars in their stands either side of my large LCD TV and a small Fender Rumble 75 V2 nearby for practise...its convenient I guess as most guys would be like me where the hi-fi (olllddd wording there) or sound systems are in the same room as the TV mostly, and its a good place to practise as long as the wife doesnt mind and the kids are past "the scaling up top of dad's amp" stage...which is normally the next stage after toddling or learning to walk.
A lot of pics of guys gear I have seen on TB seem to be in the TV/Lounge/Living/Entertainment room. I know in my case I would be bored shirtless if I couldnt gaze lovingly at my beautiful Rickenbacker 4003 on the left side of the TV and the gorgeous EBMM5 on the right side of the TV. The wife often asks me what happened in that sequence just on from the TV show we are watching and of course I wouldnt have a clue as I've been gazing at my guitars and my beautiful Fender Rumble75 and thinking..I might give it a bash tomorrow and learn some new stuff...err sorry honey what did you say then...Did Daredevil catch that guy who shot the...err sorry hun I wasnt watching. Well she said why bother paying for Netflix if you just sit there and gaze at ya Rumble and axes. Errr yes dear.
It's only gonna get worse this week as I have my new rig being delivered tomorrow. At my age I simply can't lift my old rig into the car and carry it onto stages and gigs anymore its just toooo darnnnn heavyy...well in my case with my workhorse rig its true..a Peavey MKIV head into a Peavey 1820 cab and as any muso knows that cab has to be heavier than any bass amp box for it's size ever made. Soooo to the point..my replacement rig for the Peavey heavy gear is a beautiful new Fender Rumble 500 V3 COMBO with 2x10" Eminence drivers weighing in at somewhere between 36-40 pounds and a Fender Rumble 115 V3 Cab driving a 15" Eminence weighing in about 39 pounds. Both units of course have the extra compression tweeter horns loaded. BLISS..I should be able to cruise lifting that lightweight punchy sounding gear and I should find that I want for nothing with that rig, going by what punch my little Rumble75 puts out as an example and now I will have to find a place in the spare room for the old Peavey rig ive had since the late 80's. Well i think Ive just about run out of ink...time to go stoke up the Rumble 75 and give the girls a workout. I'll post pics once i'm organized better the next few days and get past the gazing stage and actually plug it all up.

In Australia a Bogan is something..err actually somebody, totally different. lol
