Alta Loma. That city is part of a tri-city known as Rancho Cucamonga (Alta Loma, Cucamonga, and Etiwanda).
Hi Rumblers,
apologies if this has been discussed before....
Im looking to add another cab to my 500w rumble combo for forthcoming gig. I would buy the 2 x 10 Fender, but cant afford to at the mo. As long as I respect the ratios, can I use another brand of cab? There are a few options I can rent from our studio....
I think understand the fundamental resistance / power ratio stuff. Amp is rated 500w, Combo speakers are 350w 8 ohm. So I can safely add the 2x10 fender cab, rated 8 ohms, to give 500w combined power at 4 ohms.
So as long as another cab is rated at 8 ohms, is that OK ? Any other important factor(s) ?
How much does a different brand of can colour the sound? For example, I could go for an Ashdown cab or other...
Thanks in advance !!![]()

You won't know until you try it. Nothing worse in my experience than mismatched 10s although you could luck out and find a complementary 210 cabinet of another brand. You might be better off with a 115. 15s have a broader midrange dispersion than a pair of 10s and they each move about the same amount of air. I think you'd have better luck finding a complementary 115 cabinet. The Rumble 115 is known to be stellar in that regard. Good hunting! How much does a different brand of can colour the sound?
Besides the 8 ohm impedance of an external cab, you need to be sure it's rated to handle at least 250 continuous watts, or RMS watts. More would be better.
500 watts continuous would be better. Each cab could see up to 500w at any given time. Just an FYI. Not saying they will, but they could.
I had great luck with my Eden 210XLT with the Fender 210 cab and 500 head. But the OCD in me wanted matching cabs and got a 2nd Rumble 210. However, I do leave the Eden at the rehearsal spot and just tote the head back and forth. Sound incredible by itself. There is Magic in them old Eden cabs I tell you.Groovy, and welcome to the Fender Rumble Club @Billyears IV if you aren't already a member.

??? How does that work???
+1 The Eden 410 and 210 XLTs are best of breed and damned heavy and expensive too.I had great luck with my Eden 210XLT with the Fender 210 cab and 500 head. You got that right. I think that Eden 210 weighs as much as both Fender Rumble cabs.+1 The Eden 410 and 210 XLTs are best of breed and damned heavy and expensive too.
Probably due to transient program power peaks.Speaker failure is the main way it can happen. A repair man explained to me a long time ago, I forget the other reasons. But the idea of having a cab to handle the full wattage has stuck for that reason. And I'll remember in about an hour after I post this.....
Yeah, I think they were $10 a pound.And I had the 410 once upon a time. It was 98lbs
Rumor has it... that the Peavey Pro Series cabs where actually made by Eden back then. I had one of those too when I had a sponsor from Peavey and it sounded EXACTLY the same and had all the same earmarks. Just the grill and badge were different. (I never pulled the speaker to check those)I had the Pro 500 head (awesome head) and the Pro 410 and pro115 cabs, the same setup Nate Mendel used in Foo Fighters before switching to Ashdown.Yeah, I think they were $10 a pound.
