Fender Rumble Club

Glad to see these sweet little pieces are getting so much love.
I recently started giving my v3 100 some extra attention ... ...

Speaking of love, we'd love to see your v3 100, especially with that extra attention lavished on it. And mention joining The Club and Dav will fix you up!
Meanwhile, explore the Rumble Club Wiki page linked in my signature.
.
... ... because my TV 12 has been playing up.

Ack! Say it ain't so! Please take it over to the Fender Bassman Club and show off it's good looks and describe the problem, maybe someone there can advise on it.
I have it's modern twin, the Bassman 150/112 combo, though not as cool and retro looking, it is a deceptively monstrous beast when cranked!

Does anyone have the block diagram for the Rumble Stage 800?

Sorry, Droop, but those don't seem to have been released to the public, as far as I can tell. If you do, somehow, find it would you please share it here? Do you have any questions the owners or enthusiasts here might answer for you?

Do you have a Stage? Or considering one? Do you have any other Rumble(s)? We'd love to see.

Due to all the recent posts and topics about High Pass Filters, I was wondering if someone could give a informative post about the 2nd Order HPF that is on the Block Diagram for the Rumbles in between the Preamp and the Power Amplifier.

I looked in the Rumble Talks and didn’t find anything that actually gave the specifics of the 2nd Order HPF in the Rumbles.

I did find some generic stuff about 2nd Order LPF and HPF filters. While interesting, it went into mathematical/theoretical stuff and did not really give much information that I found useful as a player.

So given the fact that there is a 2nd Order HPF built into the Rumble, what exactly would be the benefit, or is there one, of having an additional HPF or HPF/LPF pedal? What would having one do that the built in HPF wouldn’t do.

I have read all of that, sir. I appreciate you taking the time to answer.

No, sir. I did not find that additional information in the Rumble Club or the Wiki. I found it here:

I am sure that it is good information, but I do not possess the knowledge of electronic engineering to best understand it.

I was just wondering if there was anymore information that had come out given all of the recent discussions on this topic. Hopefully at a level that is more easily grasped by players.

Yes, sir.

It was quite informative, but it did not have any specific information on the Rumbles’ 2nd Order HPF that I could find. That does not mean that I did not miss it.

Thanks again.

Whoa! Excuse me, Mr. @Tad, sir, most venerable Rumbler #333! It's been some years since you visited The Club, so I hadn't met you before. Forgive me for assuming your newbiness to the magic that is the Rumble. :)

You must have had many interesting adventures with your Rumble. Won't you please share a bit? :D

I visit almost daily. I just don’t post very much. I’ve been a TB member for about 12 years but my Rumble # is higher than my TB post count.

There’s nothing to forgive. I’m not that sure that my experiences are all that interesting.

All of my basses are Fenders or Squiers. I’m a Fender kind of guy. They are all stock except for strings. If a bass doesn’t sound and feel good to me, I won’t buy it. Different strokes and all, don’t you know.

With my 500c and 2x10 extension cab, I mostly like a clean, balanced, full tone and then I kick the Vintage button in. Every once in a while I’ll step on the switch and put a little Overdrive in there. I’ve played with the Compression a little. I use a little sometimes, but not a whole lot when I do.

I bought a Fender Downtown Express when they first came out and have started experimenting with that. That got me interested in pedals. I’ve never used any on bass before. I’m pretty sure that I don’t have it all the way figured out. I do think that the Compression and Overdrive are more versatile than the Rumble onboards. You have more adjustability and can change the order of from C -> O or O -> C on the FDE. That gives you some different options.

I started reading some different threads about pedals which led me to the Broughton thread. That got me interested in the HPF/LPF thing. Then all these other HPF threads started popping up.

I studied on the block diagram for the Rumbles quite a bit. I read up on some stuff. It still wasn’t all quite clicking for me. That was why I posted my question here in the Rumble Club. Then on the neutered thread, I read a couple of posts which made the light come on, at least dimly. ;)

Thanks for your perspective, Tad. Please continue to ask for clarification of anything you'd like. We may not have all the answers here, but we do like to pursue them.

I like the K240s I own and have tried the HD280 (nearly bought them). On a lark and some good reviews I picked up these K240 clones and actually like them better than the AKGs...Made by Stellar Labs I got my set for about $28 shipped...I do really like them...Link Removed

Not sure I can post a link here but...

I totally agree. I personally have Beyer Dynamic DT 770

Hello people, i´m new on this forum but ive been reading a lot (only 65 pages from 1817, maybe too much, but love the stories).

I have to be honest, my very first approach to a fender was a total failure. I went to a local store and try a v3 100w, my first impression was OMG, so much sound from that little amp. i buy it and went to my first rehearsal.

After 15 minutes of playing (salsa and merengue), a strange smell comes from the amp, i though it was some paint smell coming from the speaker so i continue playing and smelling.

Second practice with the band and the smell was stronger, suddenly my amp went off (almost cry).

So with all of the feelings a broken new amp can produce i went back to the store and tell the story to them, they couldn´t believe it. They offer to change the amp for another 100w but i was completely destroyed for the situation so i didn´t receive it until i play for a while with it in the store.

i took my bass (Cort Action DLX plus) and start playing in the store and after 15min the smell comes from the new amp too (***!), i tried a third one and the same situation, my guess, a bad release from fender.
The only thing to do was trying another different amp so went for the 500w and this ones was good. love the sound and the possibility of growing later, now im in love of my amp after a total deception with the same brand.

Now im looking how to run my pedals to get the best sound out of my bass (FX loop or FOA) and continue reading and playing.
Hope i can get a number!

Hey, Richie, how about a picture? We'd love to see your rig!

Welcome Rumbler #1095! I think you are not in the U.S., so I wonder if, perhaps, there is a problem with the correct power supply for your location? Anyway you have the 500 which is a great amp and you can Rumble On!

Good point, although I think that most power supplies are auto switching. Oops, I just looked at the back of my 500 and it is only 120V. I remember when I was in Australia (230V) and my lady plugged in her US 120V hair dryer - that sure smelled bad and it lasted about .003 of a nanosecond before the Poof! moment.

That's what I was thinking. Perhaps they got in a shipment with the wrong power supply.

That was my very first though, but i work in a University where in order to have certification, we need to meet the standard regulation. on the other hand, the 500w was plugged in the same spot and works flawlessly so still don´t know what happen

Probably just fate telling you that you needed more power.
