Fender Rumble Club

Richie, you aren't playing your Rumble 500 combo close to, and facing, the wall, as in your photos, are you? If so, I could imagine all that sound pressure building up and causing back pressure against the speakers and maybe the problems you're experiencing. Just a thought.
.
Nope, that was just an example of my rig, when i play i do it on a rehearsal room, but im suspecting on the electricity `cause i connect the amp on my office with all the controls almost all the way up and no farting sound.

Nice!

I have a Squier Affinity PJ myself. Dropped in some SD Quarter Pounds and put some GHS Precision Flats on and it is probably my favorite of the 3 basses I own!

Neat. I thought about the qp's for mine but after pickin up an Ibby srx300 with its' massive mags I'm thinkin more like Yosemites for tone. The pj has GHS Boomers 45-105's and it sounds and plays great.
The jazz has the Precision Flats 55-105s. It's like my strings are hard butter and the tone is really mellow.

I guess your signal chain was something like bass>pedalboard>DI>ABY splitter>then the amps? Or was the DI after the splitter? Also, which splitter did you use? And, last question, what else changed when you played the Rumble by itself? That is, Did you simply remove the splitter, or did you remove the DI also, or ...?
The chain i use is bass>splitter>pedalboard>DI>amp1
bass>splitter>tuner>amp2
My main amp is the fender one, i use the other one with the eq quite up with just bass to have a hard low end punch that helps getting a full frequency range sound.

Heck I didn't even know about this club.

Just wondering if anyone could offer a tonal comparison between the 500 v.3 head and the new 800 head. Mainly, does the extra headroom in the 800 make it significantly "cleaner" sounding?
I have a 500 v.3 head and love its "voice", but I'd like to get its big brother, for the pre/post EQ XLR out switch.
I suppose I have the difference between the GK 400RB and GK 1001RBII heads in mind. I have both, and usually prefer the 400RB for its sound. 1001RBII: massive volume and low end, but not as warm, fuzzy and (dare I say) cuddly as the 400RB.
Thanks!

Very cool! I was checking out some Ibbies this afternoon (in line). I think I’m set with basses for a while, however.

My Rumbling brothers and sisters, I've been asked by the venerable @Gravedigger Dav to grant him respite in the duties of issuing club numbers while he recovers from a non-serious illness. So, herewith begins my reign as Temporary Rumble Club Membership Number Issuer. Uh, ... but, the numbers are permanent!

Welcome, @cooks33, you are member #1105 in the Fender Rumble Club. Very nice rig, there.
.

Well, it's about time, @evlwevl, that you are finally member #1106 in the Fender Rumble Club. We look forward to catching up with you.
.

Congratulations, @ak56, you are member #1107 in the Fender Rumble Club. Good choice of the 500 combo!

Thus is my mighty luminescence shone upon the worthy! Yet, if I be blinded by the light, and have overlooked any unacknowledged Rumblers seeking to be counted amongst this valiant volume of bassists here lauded, let them come forth and be recognized and so anointed. That is, ... if I missed you just lemme know and I'll get you fixed up.

And to all and sundry, . . .
Rumble On!
.

It's good to see that the RUMBLE CLUB is in good hands for the interim. Keep on truckin'!

Well, our Jugband performance was a mixed bag at the San Miguel de Allende climate awareness event. Our equipment was to be used for speeches and all 5 bands doing their 2 songs. Set up at 9:30, load out at 4. There were two power outlets, neither grounded so we used adapters, one side of each outlet was totally melted form prior heavy use. Even with no cord attached, the adapters were so loose they were falling out. Totally exposed to passersby on outside wall of gazebo front. I taped them in with blue painter’s tape we marked our cables etc. Got things going. After an hour of boring speeches in both languages (I am part of a large Ex-pat population 10% of town), first band went on and sucked, nerves and lack of practice. After more speeches, and half of the crowd gone, we came on. My settings were perfect for the ‘mwah’ sound I was after. Mother Earth went well. Then I led into our second song, loosely based on Mobile Line. After 30 seconds my amp and the powered PA box on my same power cord went out. A photog was leaning on my power cord at the socket. I had to take off my bass and go off the stage and physically move the resistant photog (taking photos of ‘us’). After that, the connection was so poor, everytime I hit a note it was too much of a draw and both my amp and the PA box would go out. Very frustrating as the guitarist really gets his rhythm from me and the intermittent sound really threw him off. At least we did a rousing version of that song in our soundcheck as the marchers were all first arriving! After we finished, I came across another ‘outlet’ 5’ away that had no socket, just bare wires with electrician’s tape. I could have jerry-rigged a waay better connection had I seen that before.

Ah well, living and learning in a foreign land.

At least I got my ‘mwah’

Reminds me that so much about live playing is about adaptation and flexibility.

Those that survive are people like you. Congrats!

Sounds like you were lucky to survive.

Interesting read, thanks for sharing. As long as you had fun in the end, then all is good!
