Fender Rumble Club

That raises an interesting question: the Rumbles generally have a “sound” built into their cabs (just as some other amps do). Does any one know if the Studio and Stage speakers have that sound built-in, or if Fender tried to go with a more neutral speaker setup, given the modeling features of those amps?

Good question, sequel. The answer to your query is linked on the Rumble Wiki Page, linked in my signature, in the Stage & Studio Links section. Member tombowlus asked his Fender contacts about the possibility of FRFR speakers in these modeling amps.

ps: The matching black 210 cabinet for the Stage 800 is electronically identical to the silver-grilled 210 cabinet matching the 200 & 500 combos, too.

Decision has been made. Picked up the 800c. Think I found a Rumble 410 cab to use with it ... I’m looking forward to hearing that combination! Thanks all.View attachment 3551477

Congratulations! @Mitch_CT you are member #1121 in the Fender Rumble Club. Please show us when you add the 410 to your Stage! Not sure we've seen that combination before, but it should be a killer rug!!!

I hope it is fine to ask small questions about the Rumble here, it seemed to me like a good thread for it.

I bought the Rumble 500 combo two weeks ago and I'm liking the sound. I didn't play it for a few days and yesterday, when I turned it on, I noticed the fan noise for the first time. I think it's louder than before. Has this happened to anyone here? Maybe I have a faulty fan, or I just didn't notice this before? But I think this didn't happen before, as I can notice the sound from anywhere in my room when I'm not playing.

Sounds like a call to Fender is in order. I've never really noticed the fan in my 200c, which I've had for 4 years come November.

Hello!

Yes, I thinks there is a physics answer to this. However, if I understand correctly the little physics that I know, two 40s won’t sound twice as loud as a lone 40.

Curious to know the subjective answer of how much louder they will be combined then alone...

And by the way, does anyone know the physics answer? How much louder will two 40s be compared to one?

Thanks!
Here is a link to a MF page re: Sound Pressure Level....in the example, it takes a theoretical 10times the wattage on the same speaker to achieve a 10 db - double perceived - sound pressure. Decibels is a Log scale. Double wattage gives only a 3 db SPL increase. For the same speaker. This is where speaker efficiency comes in.....

The Rumble 500 combo has a fan? I've got one and have never heard it. But as my wife says.... I have selective hearing! I'll make an effort to notice any fan noise next time I fire her up! But agree with GP, if it's somewhat loud, I'd contact Fender about it.

I didn't know i had one, too. I'll contact Fender and before that I guess I'll talk with a friend of mine that has the same amp.

No, changing out the speaker does not necessarily push double the air. I think you're referring to doubling a combo, which will double the air pushed. :D The confusion of overlapping conversations.

Very interesting, LoveJack! So, a single cable from the Studio's Right FX Send to the 100's FX Return does nothing!?! But, hopefully, once the Left is connected, then the Right FX Send will also work the same way (to give stereo sends). I keep meaning to try that, but haven't, yet.

It probably doesn't help that, as you look at the Studio's back panel, the Left loop jacks are on the right and the Right jacks are on the left! Good thing they're labeled R & L, since they're backwards.
.

Oh, LoveJack, I wouldn't venture with changing the speaker in the Studio, as that might change the voices of the stock presets(!), which are probably tuned for the stock speakers. The Studio's speaker is the exact same as in the R40. But, it also has a tweeter, or high frequency horn, that the R40 doesn't, which is also part of the preset voices. No, I would wait until long after the warranty is up, if then, before doing any mods that could mess with the Studio's meticulously crafted sounds.

A different voice may be what someone wants from the regular Rumble 40, but probably not from the Studio.

I appreciate your wisdom. The Studio 40 sounds great as it is and I'll leave it as is.
And yes, works through my R100 going from the left send of the S40C. I'd never done this so I wasn't sure it the R100 volume controls would have any effect. I found they don't.

Based on this, I apparently, in effect, have 2 - 40 watt combos to play through. Going to practice more later with both. I have a ton of studying to do.

Very good, Lovey, and you're quite welcome, sir. Yes, on the Rumbles the FX Return is a total bypass of all controls, and whatever signal it receives gets the full wattage! The S40 must regulate the volume for both. So, not a good idea for quiet practice.

Unfortunately, the R40 doesn't have an FX Return, but you can use the instrument input and then you have full control on both! Very cool mini rug.

Or, with the S40 driving the R100 you've got approximately the same speaker area and power as the R200 combo! Woo hoo! Party on! Excellent!

Rumble On!

My Studio 40c actually does have an FX Return (Mono or Stereo). So, Send a cable from the R100c send to the Studio 40c Return? Will this give be the ability to use the R100c Volume controls? Thanks G

Well, ... uh, ... yes, you can do it that way, if you want. But why would you send the more limited R100 signal to the S40, when you can send the hundreds of S40 voices to the R100 instead???

Don't you also have a non-Studio regular R40, IIRC? That's the one without an FX loop. Or do you no longer have that one?

Sold it. As to using what I have together as one unit, I'm simply learning how best to use together as I have never done this before. So, I'm clueless...haha.

My endgame is to have all the capabilities of the S40c and all the volume or power of the R100c as one unit. Clueless in Murphy NC.
