Fender Rumble Club

That sounds perfect. I have 2 x 100 combos which is plenty loud, but find myself wanting a little more clarity in some situations. I’ve even been considering getting a GK!
But the speaker mod would be a much cheaper alternative, if it works out
I almost always roll back the lows on my 100c, helps a lot with clarity in boomy rooms. To get back the bottom end I crank a little bit on the low mids if I need to.

The only thing stopping me doing this is that in here an s2012 costs half as much as the r100c -.-'

Well, dORSY, perhaps just adding some ½-inch thick acoustic liner on the inside back, top and one side would be a worthwhile upgrade? IIRC, the R100 comes with no cab lining, while the R200c and R500c are factory lined. I've heard that this lining, while keeping the stock speaker, makes quite a big improvement! Good luck, and . . .

I guess it kinda depends on how much you use it. When I bought mine I was planning was on strictly using it for practice and rehearsals but after trying it on a few small room gigs especially those that involve stairs, I found it be a nice option to my 500c. I paid a little over 100 bucks for the s2012 but considering how much I now use my 100c, it's seems like it'll be a pretty good investment.

I'm with you! I may do the same someday if I'm ever up for playing out again.

Hey all, thought I'd share my simple Rumble mod. I've been using the 500 combo for a few years now, sometimes alone and sometimes with the 2x10 extension cab depending on the gig. It's served me well and was a worthy replacement to more expensive and much heavier 4x10 and 2x12 cabs. Recently though I started experiencing the problem noted here, and it got progressively worse:

New Fender Rumble 500 Combo Crapping Out?

Since I'm out of warranty, I thought about what I could do instead of spending time and $$$ trying to get it fixed with no guarantees the problem would be solved. After some thought, I decided to dive into some of my previous gear and turn this rig into two 8 ohm, 500w 2x10 cabs. Sorry in advance for lack of work/progress pictures, I didn't really think I would share any of this until after the fact.

So, I simply removed the amp and wired the speakers to a speakon input jack ('Hosa NL4MPR Neutrik Connector, 4-pole speakON' from Amazon), drilled a hole and mounted it right where the wires originally came out to the amp. I bypassed the tweeter since I never use it and also because I am a total amateur at this stuff and wanted to keep it simple.

I also swapped out the speakers in both cabs with the 10s from my Genz Uber 410 4 ohm cab. I THINK they are Eminence deltalites?, and boy do they sound amazing. I understand speakers are tuned to particular cabs but this is a match made in heaven, and reduced the already light weight of these cabs even more, a blessing for my aging body and bad back. I tidied things up with replacement Fender badges (blackface logo, also from Amazon), hooked them up to my Shuttle 900 and now have a not quite mini but super light, modular rig of doom!

Did that already :) Thanks for remiding I should check the foam inside, cause I did not glue that in.
Rolling back lows always help boomy rooms, it's not specifically an r100c problem.
For example in my room here, it's square and even my little stereo is boomy as hell :) so in this room i have to roll the bass down to like 8 o'clock on the r100.

In my very humble opinion, if I were you I think I'd rather sell my 2 R100s and buy 1 R500. A super light and powerful combo that covers all my needs! ;)
I definitely considering a 500c. Or a GK MB 210 ii.

The 2x100 actually sounds great; I just like to tinker!

So many amps, so little time (TBH, so little cash  )

I usually have my bass EQ knob at 9:00, helps a ton. What kind of bass are you using? I find my P bass is already so mid heavy anything above 12:00 on low mids gets a little too crunchy (IMO)

There’s an idea, cheap and easy! I’ve also heard of plugging one port to help increase clarity

Plugging the port did not seem to help, at least not at low volume. Maybe at stage volume it'd do some.

I'm using a Yamaha trbx 305 as my main instrument. It's just extremly versatile and comfortable. Was thinking about the 505, but the passive mode option did not worth the extra cost to me and I love the 5-way eq switch soo much. In general they are the same basses with different electronics.

I like the fact you have 2 light combos but I prefer everything under 30lbs. Hell, get a 3rd one and triple stack them... Smiles and Grins... Then add basslites.. BOOM!

Stage 800. Just got it yesterday. Gigging it this weekend. Medium sized place. Looking forward to seeing what this amp can do!

Not sure if anyone one here has a Stage 800 with the black 210 ext cab. I just bit the bullet and ordered one. Be here Friday. Looking forward to gigging with this stack this weekend. Pics to come!

Looking good! @jmon, you are now member #1123 in the Fender Rumble Club. Please show us your Stage 800+210 cab stack at your earliest opportunity.

I hope it is fine to ask small questions about the Rumble here, it seemed to me like a good thread for it.

I bought the Rumble 500 combo two weeks ago and I'm liking the sound. I didn't play it for a few days and yesterday, when I turned it on, I noticed the fan noise for the first time. I think it's louder than before. Has this happened to anyone here? Maybe I have a faulty fan, or I just didn't notice this before? But I think this didn't happen before, as I can notice the sound from anywhere in my room when I'm not playing.

Please let us know how the loud fan goes, Leon.

Meanwhile, post a pic and get a Club number!

When I first got my 200c (on release), I could hear the power supply fan, and I thought "Come on, man". I was sure it was going to bug me.

Ha.

Now? I don't even notice it. And I NEVER heard it above even a low volume setting.

Hope that's all he's dealing with.

I’ll send a pic from the gig once it’s all setup and post it Friday night. Really learning all the features this week as well. Man this amp can do even more than I thought. The multi-cab function inside the different presets really makes a difference. I’ve already built presets for my P and J bass. Plan on doing that for the different venues we play as I go along too. Lovin it.

Anyone know why Fender decided to use a Special Design 10 inch speaker in the Rumble 40 instead of the Eminence speakers that Fender uses in other combos? Just seems weird to me. Especially since the put Eminence 10 inch speakers in the Rumble 500...

Tis is a damn shame. I have always proclaimed that they should have a Rumble 100N, for Neodymium at $349 or so OR a Neo and ext speaker jack at $399. And my Studio 40 at $400 certainly should have a Neo.
But I'll not lose sleep over it.
