Fender Rumble Club

I agree. It sounds great at lower volume levels, but it’s quite thunderous when pushed. I guess I’ll be “experimenting” also.
I guess I'm gonna hafta to set up an extra 1/2 hour early at the next gig, use a long cable, and step out front to hear the difference(s). The folks eating dinner won't be thrilled, but I wanna try it without "vintage".Tweeter still OFF.

You gotta do what you gotta do. I think that’s smart. Let us know how it works out.

A bit late to the party, but...

A store I teach at recently became a Fender dealer so I was able to get a Rumble 200 (been doing some small acoustic trio gigs I think this would work well for) at cost so I pulled the trigger. Haven't used it on a gig yet, but I've played through them before and got a good vibe from it.

I've never been a fan of Fender grille cloth tho so I made a (reversible) mod to the amp...kinda reminds me of old Vox gear,

Sure. No matter what one comes up with for settings at home, it's always gonna need a tweak or 2 for each venue. I try to use the 67 Thunderbird for all gigs that I need the 200c. Even then, I f---* with the tone knob on the bass for some tunes. Normally it's on 7; 10 for more aggressive rock songs.

Hey y’all, Does anyone know if the 15 in the rumble 200 is the same wattage as the 15 that comes in the rumble cab? I love how these guys don’t put the wattage in the speaker :)
Well, Betsy, the speakers in the Rumble 210 cab are the same as in the Rumble Stage 800. So, if Fender obviously thinks they handle the 400 continuous watts of that combo, why shouldn't they take it from the Rumble 800 HD?

My theory is that Fender very conservatively rated the newly designed 2x10s in the Rumble 500 combo at 350 continuous watts simply because that's what the 500 amp was rated at 8 ohms. (This was about the same time they decided very conservatively to put the same 300 watt continuous 15" speaker in the 115 cab and the Rumble 200 combo, where it can only ever actually see a maximum of 140 watts continuous!) The 210 cab came about a year later and also was given the very conservative 350 rating, probably for consistency.

Then, a few years later, with lotsa real world experience on these speakers, comes the Rumble Stage 800 combo needing speakers for 400 watts at 8 ohms. By then, they are confident that the same 2x10s can handle it just fine. So, should they re-rate the 210 cab and the speakers in the Rumble 500 combo?? Nah!! Too confusing. And when they needed a 400 watt extension cab for the Stage 800 what do they do? Take the same 210 cab and only change the cosmetics to match the Stage combo! It's the same speakers in the Stage combo and the black 210 cab, both rated 350 watts on paper, but actually taking up to 400 watts from the Stage 800 amp!! Not a problem. Still within warranty!

Worried about those extra watts between rating and actual use? I wouldn't be, not one bit. But, if it bothers you anyway, then just add another extension cab! The Stage can run just fine with TWO 8 ohm extension cabs, there's even an impedance switch for setting that. (Yes, the amp is running at 2.67 ohms that way. No problemo!) And the Rumble 800 HD can run at 2 ohms, meaning up to FOUR 8 ohm cabs!!!

Now the Bassman 800 is a little different. It runs at 500 watts at 8 ohms!! I wouldn't use anything less than a 500 watt Rumble or Bassman 410 for that!

Hope this helps.

Why, yes! Yes, it is. See this 5-year-old Rumble Talk on Speakers from someone with the acquaintance of a Fender insider. So, you can rely on the information.

Better late than never, Marky Marc! I'm sure you got here as soon as you could. @Marcus Willett, you are now member #1128 in the Fender Rumble Club! Congratulations, and please advise of your Rumble journey.

Rumble On!

Rumble 200 combo extension cab, 115 or 210? Leaning 210 for a mix of 10 and 15 inch speakers.

Well, Coolio, I read that there is a coupling effect between stacked identical speakers that reinforces the sound of the individual speakers, supposedly even better than the usual 4x4 arrangement in some cabs! Hence the many vertical speaker arrays on some stages with a "wall of sound".

Another Rumble in the Wild pic, this time at our local baseball stadium for a private party. I only took one 410 cab, and felt kinda unpowered for the evening. We played in an enclosed tent on a raised deck, and it seems like all of my low end vanished into the air, even with the Vintage engaged and the bass boosted.

I’ve recently been running my 500h with all three buttons engaged, and then EQing from there. Seems to work really well for my dance band, not so well for my 90’s grunge rock band.

Anyone else try running their 500 like this?

Is it possible that it just passed through your knees? That is, have you tried tilting it toward your ears when you don't have reflective surfaces to bounce it back towards your head?

Cool pic. No on 3 buttons.

Very possible. I didn’t give it much thought until after the gig. Should’ve thought to at least remove the back two casters so it would lean up.

I almost always need to get my cab up off the ground a bit when i have to stand to close. I usually try to find something to set it on, stand, roadcase, empty keg, etc.
Me, too. But usually it’s a second 410 cab. Unfortunately we were told this was a low volume gig, and the gear had to be moved almost a quarter mile (on carts) to where we played, so it was a one cab evening.

We played in the large tent on the far end of the concourse. Load out SUCKED.
