Thanks. I still have both and the more I compare them the more I love the R200. The 100 is a great amp but the 200 just rocks. To get a good loud volume out of the 100 I have to put the volume dial past noon. With the 200 I can keep it less than that and still be loud without pushing the amp.


Thom, The biggest advantage of the R200 for me is the QUALITY of the speakers. The story I heard was that Fender made the Rumble 115 Cabinet first with that 300 watt
Eminence ceramic speaker. It sounded SO GOOD that they decided to use The Same Speaker in the R200, even though it only puts out 140 watts though the internal speaker. It sounds superb! The R100's speaker specs are listed on this site under "Replacing the Speaker in my Rumble 100". They are NOT good. (Sorry R100 fans!!)
I replaced mine with the Eminence NEO S1012 and it sounds much BETTER, but (possibly) the cabinet size doesn't allow it to have the tonal character that the R200 has..and it's a 12 vs a 15...and 40 less watts. FYI: I use my Rumbles to play a G&L L2000 in 16 piece Big Bands. They all prefer the sound of the R200. Consider the folding cart with a bungie card. It really works well and will save your back. One of the interesting things about perception is that if you hear something "bad" then generally it can be measured. On the other hand, if something measures "bad" it doesn't necessarily mean that it will be perceived as sounding "bad." Lifts, toupees, high heels, lipstick and mascara are not "high fidelity" — as far as presenting an accurate rendition of the "original" — but some people prefer those non-linearities to the underlying "real thing" that rolls out of bed in the morning.

The only issue I had was in the ad for it claimed it was much lighter than other cabs in it's range. I personally don't feel that 3lbs is "much lighter'. Not when they are talking about the 65lb area. Since that is my only negative thought on this box I think I will let it slide. ... ...

That ad you refer was probably written back in 2013 in preparation for the early 2014 release of the then brand new V3 Rumbles, when other cabs were much heavier. Today everyone has copied their lightweightedness, so the difference is a bit less these days.

No longer in between Rumbles.

In this pic power is on but not plugged in because a funny thing happened, a Fender cable did not fit into a Fender amp... So I threw away the so called "Fender Custom Shop" tweed covered cable I had used from the pedal board to (another) amp previously and just plugged in directly, bass to amp. The Spectraflex fit nicely and so did another guitar cable I borrowed from the Mrs to double check so there's absolutely no issue with the jack in my new amp.

Also this time I have no doubts even if I only had a moment to test it worked the Studio 40 sounds awesome and will be perfect for home use. For some reason I did not bond with the regular Rumble 40 V3 but now I'm happily all Rumbled up again

I am sorry you had to hear about the Hoffner. It broke my heart to sell it but I just couldn't get my hand around that neck.
