Fender Rumble Club

muley, you're in the perfect position to try out a R25, or even a R15, in your own home for a number of (return policy) days, side-by-side with your R40 to see if either, or both, of them will work for you. Why, if the stock sound doesn't do it for you, you could even do the JakobT mod to one and see if you like that sound better and, if not, just undo the mod and return it for the other to try!

Just be aware, my mood man, that the R25 actually weighs more than your R40, even though it is a little smaller box! For a practice spot that may not be any big deal. Otherwise, you might wanna try the R15 at GC first, then at home (without & with mod) to see how its tone sounds to you.
.

Heck, I love my R200, and how I can manage with 1 hand carry,

...it kicks some RUMBLE as well, almost 2 years, and has rocked it's share of gigs/rehearsals, so...

I'm glad of the features the R25 has, a plus, and thanks for the idea of buying/trying, a GC right about a half mile away :D

Seems you've got a larger than normal amount of electromagnetic interference in the area you have your rig set up. If shielding and/or new cable don't help, there's just too much going on around your amp - tv's, lights, electric appliances, etc. Unfortunately, single coil pups act as antennas and pick up the interference rather easily.

True. Hoping someone has experience with a gate pedal or the ebtech hum x products to advise me

I have the same issue with my fretless Jazz bass. The main culprit for me is our light dimmers. If I turn them off, most of the hum goes away. I plan to check the shielding and bridge grounding on my bass eventually, but in the mean time I am using the ZNR (Zoom Noise Reduction) effect in my Zoom B3. It allows you to set sensitivity among other things. The thing to realize is that it only makes the hum go away when you are not playing. I believe there are specialty devices that attempt to cancel 60 Hz hum, but I have no experience with them.

For around the same money as a "name" noise reduction pedal (less if you can find one used) you could get a Zoom MS-60B multi-effect unit which includes the ZNR effect. It is roughly the size of the regular Boss pedals, but a lot smaller than the Zoom B1 Four (which has an updated version of the ZNR effect with control of the release time) and the B3/B3n. A number of people have recommended the MS-60B/ZNR in the noise gate threads. You also may like some of the other effects and create some patches (up to four effects per patch) with them. I run some of the amp sims into my R40 (set flat).

Sometimes ya just gotta find a nice place to rest your head and wait out the darkness.
The sun will indeed eventually return.

Your dog has good taste in amps. Waiting out the sun in the DFW areas has taken a while. For the last couple of weeks I've been thinking I was back in Portland, Oregon.

90+ and sunny in the Austin area yesterday.
88 and mostly sunny today. Makes for great lunch time runs!

Go rent, buy, or download the movie Blues Brothers. It is a classic. Plus you get to watch Duck Dunn and many other great musicians perform.

A side note on the movie. For those of you that might not know this, but that is Joe Walsh making a cameo at the end of the movie. He is the prisoner who first jumps up on the table when Jailhouse Rock starts.

Great movie! Been listening to the Blues Brothers collection. Then downloaded a Duck Dunn playlist from Apple Music. Got my book yesterday. I was going through the songs and the playlist I downloaded is made for the book! All the songs in order! (some are missing). So I am set for this weekend.

If your amp is humming/buzzing with no input to it, then the pedals you ask about will not help at all. I have the EHX noise gate, it works fine as a noise gate should. But if your amp hums/buzzes with no input, then your issue is with the power circuit you are plugging your amp into. You said it does not make the noise when plugged in at the studio, so that sort of clinches it. If it is making the noise when plugged in at home, try plugging it into a different circuit in your house. Not just a different plug along same wall, but a different circuit off a different circuit breaker. If all the plugs in the room you play in are on the same breaker, then you may need to run an extension cord to another room to power your amp and see if the hum goes away. If it does, then definitely the circuit.

Hi! I own a Rumble 800 head since 9 months now. Seems I cant get it to sound clean with satisfying definition. Anybody here has a Frequency chart for each knob?

I know they are listed in the manual , but that 10Khz shelving type Treble knob seems useless. Anybody heres know if the shelving actually starts at 10khz or it peaks at that point ?
Id like to see the curves of each knob on a graph.

I bought an Alpha Omega Ultra preamp to help define the hi mids and have control on lower than 80hz frequencies...but its noisy.

Help please!
