Fender Rumble Club

What was the point of your "of course?" comment?
They messaged me (and I hope @Black Out Jazz doesn't mind me mentioning this) and explained it was out of curiosity. I had no intention of starting anything with anyone and should have considered my words better.

The US and especially where they live has very different views on masking in public to where I live. And I figure if anyone's curious I can kind of layout where Ontario is right now. Seeing as I didn't actually address that part of their curiosity.

We're under stay-at-home orders until Wednesday, and our lockdown is set to start lifting on June 14th. Classes are closed but may open for the last few weeks. Our case counts are high and our ICUs are still crowded but over 60% of our people have their first vaccine dose with over 100 000 added to that list daily and second doses starting as well. My city has a mask mandate in place until December of this year with little intention of changing that. However I was just at the park and not a single person was wearing a mask. Plenty of social distancing, and lots of people because it's nice but no masks.

When dealing with strangers I plan on masking until I and my family have had both doses. People I know may be another case but as far as I know no one's released any guidelines or recommendations for people with only one dose.

Anyway I apologize to everyone for derailing the thread. Let's Rumble on!

Just postulating here, but if outside keeping respectable distances, given that there is normally some air movement, two reasonably sane individuals would position themselves so that air movement would be from the side, what possible use would a mask serve? Not trying to be flippant. Wearing masks outside seems ridiculous to me if you aren’t panting on each other. Additionally, if you already had COVID, you have antibodies that I would postulate are more effective than an engineered vaccine. My 2 cents.

There are a couple of definitions required here. Like, respectable distance, air movement, reasonably sane, panting and amount of antibodies. And, of course the degree of at-risk. The effectiveness of an engineered vaccine is yours to evaluate. Other than that, I have no comment.

Yeah, I guess you have to be super specific for some people. IF air is moving, IF not standing…oh, why bother.

If the Human body were the height of immune response we wouldn't get sick so often. Those antibodies are gone in about 8 weeks. Thousands of people have had COVID more than once. Engineered vaccines and medicine have been the major driving force in increased life spans and life quality.

Why would I for any reason whatsoever forgo putting a piece of cloth on my face if it meant not getting sick? That's the one that makes no sense to me. Why not take steps to stay healthy? What's so difficult and oppressing about wearing a mask? I'm autistic, have a beard, and it fogs up my glasses. It's not like I'm in love with these things but it beats the hell out of COVID. Me and my Son's Mother may struggle to get along but I'm not going to kill her with COVID just for... I don't even know what because I can't comprehend the anti-mask BS at all. Like literally I've got nothing. Unless they're like those people who tell me I should be killed because of my disability along with anyone else who has one. Then I get the anti-mask thing loud and clear.

Also it's a matter of respect. Respect my very reasonable rules or take your money and shove it. And in return I'm respecting the health and well being of my buyers by taking the same kind of health precautions that have been required for over 15 months now everywhere.

Now out of respect for the club I suggest we end our pointless exchange here and get back to what really matters. Bass.:bassist:

What He Said....jpg

There's no need to explain why you were wearing a mask, especially to that person. Only idiots question it.
Your ad hominem is a tell, and unnecessary. Perhaps you could explain wearing a mask outdoors. Last summer it was officially declared nearly impossible to catch it outdoors, unless you're getting right into the face of people. Maybe you missed that. Even now I see people out jogging, alone, in the bright sunshine, a breeze blowing, 100 yards from anyone - wearing a mask. And obviously struggling to breath. That smacks of virtue signaling, but it could just be cluelessness, or a death wish. But, who am I to question, hey?

Let’s be clear here, I have been against stupidity in regard to health for as long as I can remember. As a family we have been ostracized at churches because we refuse to shake hands when those around us are coughing and hacking into their hands during cold and flu season (yes, ostracized). Yes, people are that ignorant. If putting a porous cloth on your face comforts you, that’s fine. I wear one when required, but seriously question their efficacy, but I still wear one. Outside, with air currents - pointless if positioned with the wind to your side. Not sure how your autism is Germaine to this exchange, but I also have a beard and glasses and know what fogged glasses are like. And now that I have typed that, what does a beard have to do with anything? If wearing a face mask or even a PAPR is what you want, do it, I don’t care, just don’t tell me science is behind you and that wearing a face mask is my civil duty and responsibility when we aren’t even close to each other.

Back to this forum, it looks like I’ll be getting a Rumble 115 to go with my 500c. Looking forward to hearing and feeling that.

A death wish from a mask? Who's virtue signaling now?

I've met Doctors and Nurses who wear those things their whole 16-24 hour shifts. Last I checked we weren't losing health care workers to the plague of wearing a mask.

Gentlemen, please ...

This is not the place to debate our views and preferences on the status of pandemic protocols. Let's all, please, just allow everyone else the courtesy of their own perspectives on that.

This is The Fender Rumble Club. Let's please stay a bit closer to that topic, shall we?

These are the types of hotbed issues that can get TB members suspended, and I wouldn't wish that anyone.

Thank you for staying civil.

Oops, sorry Mr. Dog...I will do my best ;)...:sorry::speechless:

You're welcome, Jakey. I agree with @iagtrplyr that the new Rocket Bass amps are the sincerest form of flattery to the Rumbles! And for those who want that Ampeg tone, and don't mind paying a little more (and getting a little less power & EQ control!) they look pretty good. But, like you, my Rumbles and Bassmen, ... uh, Bassmans(?), ... Bassman amps have me very well stocked.

Oh, and thank you for backing me up on that other Rumble/Bassman thread, too. ;)

...paying a little more (and getting a little less power & EQ control!) they look pretty good....

Agree! Where do I sign up?

‘Dog, your specs are spot-on and your opinions are relevant, but there’s that nagging phrase you typed right before my quote here and it is, “And for those who want that Ampeg tone...”

That’s the main reason some will choose the ‘Peg over the Rumbler. Pure tonal preference, it is. Also, while I’m not a fan of the Scrambler at all (yuck!), I’m not real high in the Rumble’s OD either.

Maybe I just don’t like added distortion circuitry, but I’m reading that the SGT voodoo is actually musical and not a can of buzzing bees. That remains to be heard by me before deciding, but could be another factor towards the RB.

And yeah, it’s kinda embarrassing that it took Ampeg this long to create what looks to be competitive combos, yet another way to look at it didn’t Yamaha very long at all to make this two-team race interesting again.

Who knows what Fender will have in store for us next? How about tube preamps throughout the line? Or something like VOX’s NuTube circuit? Or perhaps a tweed look like the TV line ran with? All neat ideas. The Rumble line is getting long in the tooth so I’ll predict 2022 as the unveiling of the new Fender Space Force line to keep up with Ampeg in our bass combo race! :hyper:

A little recap: I had-and stupidly sold-2 1963 Bassman heads and 2x12 cabs, so, to be perfectly clear 2 heads, 2 cabs, 2x12" each. Best sound I ever heard, but not quite enuff for the Miami Beach hotel lounge gig we were going to be doing. So, I bought a mid 70s 'blue line' SVT/810 rig. Never really liked the sound(s) I got out of it. The Rumble series bass amps give me the closest approximation of the Bassman tone I remember-and still want-without breaking my back or wallet.
Also, the gigging situation has changed drastically. The 'Peg rig went on stage and didn't move for 50 weeks, came down for a 2 week vacation, and back up for another 50 weeks. Current gigs are one-niters: load in, play, load out. I'll be damned if I'm gonna move 200+ pounds of crap for a one niter and AFA the new Rockets, I have 3 sizes of what I like, why spend the $ for something that's gonna duplicate the sound of something that-to me-sucked? I'm not saying I'm right*, JMNSHO.

*well, actually I am;)

I dig an SVT and a fridge but I think that's just because I can't not love an 8x10. I'm pretty sure I've even heard a Behringer one and gone dang that actually sounds good! But would I ever voluntarily move one? No. But if I could leave one somewhere for 50 weeks I'd certainly like to own one for about 50 weeks!

On that note I would love to hear the Fender Bassman 6x10.
