Fender Rumble Club

I’m certain it’ not a 500 or 800 because they like showing off their muscles. And a 200 usually looks a bit smugger, whereas anything smaller than 100 just looks small. So it’s a 100. You can bet on that. I don’t bet, but if I did, I’d go looking for a surer thing.
Damn, that's some Mr. Monk-level detective work right there!

I recorded today's practice and here's how the Rumble 100 sounds in a mix with a Boss OC5 octave pedal in the effects loop. Everything is recorded live with microphones except the Rumble which is recorded from the line out.

Well done. It's obvious you take 'Pride' in your performance.;)

Yee-haw, LeMaar! Mrs. (in)Sanity Clause done brought me a Google Pixel tablet for Christmas, too! That 11" screen is really big and clear compared to my ol' (perfectly fine) 10" Samsung Tab A. It's fantastic for the TONE App virtual controls. And the bass tone on the charging dock speaker is great!! [But, for the price of the Pixel I coulda got 4 of the Lenovo 10" tablets I got for my stepson's birthday Spark amp! Plus it led to Mrs. Dog Clause receiving that embroidery machine she's been wanting, worth many several Pixels!! (sigh). Oh, well, it's the thought that counts, right? But, it's gonna be a very lean New Year.].
.
I don't know if you picked one up or not, but I highly recommend the Speck StandyShell for the Pixel tablet. My tablet showed up today, two days early! I knew that I'd be putting the charger/speaker stand in the living room by fiber internet box, but that I'd be using the tablet in my studio. The StandyShell looked like it would work for me, and I'm happy to report that it's excellent. Fit and finish are spot on. The stand mechanism is cleverly simple. It features connector feed-throughs so you don't need to remove the shell when charging the tablet. And the magnetic connection is still really solid.

I have the Manhasset table top sheet music stand. It holds a tablet as well, and is wide enough for two sheets.

The last music stand I bought was missing a thumb screw. If I put any weight more that a couple of sheets of paper on it, it would spin and dump everything on the floor. :banghead: That's the downside of online purchases of inexpensive products. The costs and hassle of returning them outweigh the benefit. I used it until I moved, and then donated it along with almost everything else that I owned to a small charity resale shop (f' Goodwill) when I moved to France.

I don't have the space for a music stand. My MIDI keyboard controller is stored under my desk and pulled out when needed. Inconvenient, but it works. The tablet with the StandyShell fits on top of my Studio 40, so that works great for me.

Not specifically referring to your stand: Based on the two stands we’ve purchased - the one that cost 3x as much is great. The seemingly reasonably priced one doesn’t quite dump on the floor but, with no missing parts, it won’t stay upright with an iPad placed on it.

Yup. Especially when trying to use the touchscreen.

Thanks for the suggestion, LeMaar, but this Google Pixel Tablet Case came with my tablet and dock in the same box. I had no idea others were even available! :wideyed:

I have just joined this club it seems. I bought a rumble 100 v3 from Sweetwater and got it yesterday. I was coming from a 1x8 orange crush 25 so this is like night and day over that. That 12 inch speaker sounds so sweet. So far haven't turned it up at all since everyone is home for break still but I'm very pleased. I'm using a sans amp for drive / eq etc. and have left everything on the amp very neutral. So far it seems like the "vintage" voicing pairs well with this and my jazz bass. I haven't played the Rick through it yet but both basses sound pretty similar in my hands.

As a bonus, it weighs less than the 1x8. I don't know how they did it. My days of having a big 4x10 and legit amp are long over but this feels like a great all-around option for practicing solo plus maybe jams and small gigs.

HELP! The preamp in my 500c quit, the power amp works when I go from fx send on my Hartke head to FX return on the 500c, but I don’t have any control over tone or volume using the preamp on my Hartke, it’s just dead flat and one volume. For comparison, I did the same set up with a borrowed Makbass head with the same result, even extreme EQ settings on the preamp don’t change the tone at all. Am I missing something? Also, I apologize if I’m posting in the wrong place

I assume the Master control is not all the way down.
First, if you have the Overdrive button pushed down but both knobs are at zero, the preamp is muted. Make sure that's not the case.
If that's not it, plug a cable (something you'd use on a pedalboard or a spare bass cable) into the Send & Return jacks on the Rumble. Does it work then? If not, unplug/plug each end of the cable in a few times. If it works, the switch built into the Return jack is bad and you'll need to leave the cable plugged in.
If it doesn't work, did you buy the amp new? If it's still in warranty, contact the dealer or fender.

Thanks for the reply, I’ve already done all of the above, the preamp board has failed, Fender doesn’t service these amps and parts aren’t available as far as I can tell. I’m trying to use the power amp with another preamp, and it almost works, but I have no control over tone or volume with another preamp. If I plug my rumble 100 fx send into the 500 fx return I have full control from the rumble 100, with any amp that’s not a rumble I get no control. Do rumbles have a specific fx loop slave/master setup that is proprietary??

Fender has a very rational FX loop, it is just before the preamp. I can only assume your other amps have FX loops early in the preamp.
It does sound like your preamp board has failed. Is the combo out of warranty? Because if it's under warranty, they are legally obligated to provide parts.

Oh! That's just nasty! You dodged a hot mess there, Ric. :vomit:. Seller shoulda done more to clean it up, if it even works (which I doubt).

Meanwhile, how's about telling us a bit about yourself, such as your bass experience in general and your Rumble journey in particular? You'll fit right in here since we have all kinds. But we all love to. ... ... ...

Rumble On!
.
OK, I'm ready to 'spill the beans', on myself.
First off, I'm old & retar... 'er retired.
I wanted to learn bass over guitar only because my hearing on the high end is pretty much gone.
So, I started off wrong by buying a bass here and there and then stepped back and asked myself, *** you doing?
Sold everything and scored on a Squire Pbass that was on sale for $100 off normal. Right place at the right time thing.
Next, I also had a Rumble 25 and a Rumble 40. Sold those after I scored on the old Rumble 150.
I think I'm now complete and done with the gear.
I have two really good components and don't need anything else accept for lessons & practice time.
I like that this site treats everyone with respect. It doesn't matter how good you are now as we all started out knowing nothing.
Glad to be here.

In the short term, you could consider throwing a pedal (like a SansAmp, or EQ pedal) inline with your bass, then go into the FX input.

Obviously not a long-term solution, but it would give you both volume & EQ options without having to run a whole 'nother amp into your 500, until you can get the situation sorted.
