Fender Rumble Club

You're quite right, Souly. I was wrong and I will endeavor to do better. I humbly, and Rumbly(!), beg forgiveness of the collective Rumblehood for this grievous transgression.

I initiated the Rumble LT25, Studio 40 & Stage 800 thread specifically in order to give our modeling Rumblers a place to freely discuss these techno-marvelous Rumbles without cluttering up this great, but not-as-technical, Rumbling thread. Of course, new visitors to our humble Rumble Club here can be excused for not knowing of this techno-separation, and I do try to tactfully advise them. But, I, of all peoples, should certainly know better by now! Please forgive my momentary lapse into rapturous exuberance for these fantastically fun Rumbles.

Ok, it's a wrap for 2023. My band's last performance of the year was fairly impromptu and out on the street.
A fun time was had by all! Best Wishes for the coming year to Everyone here at Talkbass!

Oops! I'm sorry to sully this main Rumbley thread with all this modeling Rumbling talk. I just always find something new-to-me to try on my Rumble Studio 40, even after nearly 5 years!

This is not to take anything away from the elegance of the non-modeling Rumbles. I do realize the technology is not for everyone. Apologies.
.
You do realise I was being a smrtss.:smug:

Yeah, LeMaar, and just like having two XLR Outs for both Pre- & Post-EQ (or for configuring to STEREO), we also have two FX Loops for Right & Left (Mono*) STEREO effects!! :woot:
*using the Left FX Loop alone gives a Mono (summed stereo) signal, which is what always goes to the speaker.
For me, these, and the many other Studio modeling and BT control features, more than justifies the expense over and above the regular Rumble 40 combo.

But, ..., but, Maarti, ya gotta use a 'patch', or a 'preset' as 7ender calls 'em, just to turn the Studio or Stage on! (It defaults to #01 Basic Bassman Clean or the last one you used.) And if you use the 7ender TONE App to control your amp, which I've got on both my phone and tablet (for ease of reading and turning virtual knobs), the "Mid Low" and the "Mid High" are just a tap and a swipe away. No muss, no fuss. For my back, that always beats bending over the amp! ;)

I've got the app on my Z-Flip smartphone. It's good for picking presets, but I find the GUI for controls too small for my liking. I had a Google Nexus 10 tablet which I just loved, but it bit the dust years ago and I never replaced it. Maybe it's time to look for a new Android tablet.

EDIT: OK, after years of dithering about a replacement for the Nexus 10, I just ordered a new Google Pixel tablet. Being a long-time user of Samsung S-series smartphones (going back to the S3), I first checked their S-series tablets. After seeing the eye-watering price in France for the S9 and S9 Ultra, that made the price of the Pixel more palatable. Scheduled for delivery on 4-5 January. The Fender Tone app will be the first one installed.

Looking for suggestions, opinions, thoughts, ideas, etc.
I have a chance to pick up a "fender rumbler 60", his ad... not my words.
Anyway the price is outstandingly low, (a good thing), but (you knew this was coming), the carpet looks like it was drug behind an old Dodge down a back alley for at least a hundred miles.
So, should I replace it or go with Duratex?

Yee-haw, LeMaar! Mrs. (in)Sanity Clause done brought me a Google Pixel tablet for Christmas, too! That 11" screen is really big and clear compared to my ol' (perfectly fine) 10" Samsung Tab A. It's fantastic for the TONE App virtual controls. And the bass tone on the charging dock speaker is great!! [But, for the price of the Pixel I coulda got 4 of the Lenovo 10" tablets I got for my stepson's birthday Spark amp! Plus it led to Mrs. Dog Clause receiving that embroidery machine she's been wanting, worth many several Pixels!! (sigh). Oh, well, it's the thought that counts, right? But, it's gonna be a very lean New Year.].

Hey, rick, the "Rumbler 60" is a V1 model that could be up to 20-½ years old now! Is it fully functional and noise free? If so, it could be a good bargain. Most importantly, do the pulsing red lights in the front port still work?!? Aesthetics-wise a little shampoo & combing of the fur should get it back in tip top shape, unless you have a house cat! :roflmao:

Let us know if you get it and you'll also get a free membership here!

Nice Xmas present! Super happy to hear that the audio quality from the charging dock is really good.

I think it was from Cheech & Chong's Big Bambu album (the one with the classic Sister Mary Elephant subbing for Sister Rosetta Stone), where a guy's in court for molesting a young female and said "I plead insanity. I was insane about her." Mrs. Insanity Clause, indeed. That's funny right there. :roflmao:

Fortunately, the Studio 40 has the FX loop AND Pre- and Post-DI connections. Just select the Rumble v3 patch and you've got an expensive Rumble 40 combo! :bassist: I do miss the physical 4 band EQ knobs. The Studio 40 only has 3. You have to use a patch to get access to the separate low and high mids.
I actually find that the Rumble v3 setting on my Studio 40 sounds nothing like my Rumble 40, or any of my other Rumble v3s, for that matter. YMM, as always, V.

Figures. I sold my 40 combo in March, 2021 and didn't replace it with the Studio 40 until 8 months or so later, when the items I shipped via sea container finally showed up in France. I have no way to compare the two, and can't remember the tone of the 40, since I mostly used my 200 combo.

I loved my R200C but it was more than I needed for my little home studio. Sold a Studio 40 because I found that a R100C is perfect for my needs. I mostly use a DAW with plugins and monitors.

After a lot of trial and error, I've decided the line out sounds a lot better than any mic placement I can come up with an SM57 when I record my Rumble 100. I could do both, but it sounds best with just the line out. And it's easier. And I can put a plug in the headphone jack to disconnect the speaker if I need to. Then when I record the bass amp with everything else live in the studio, it won't bleed into every mic in the room.

Yeah, G, the XLR Out has a pretty nifty speaker cabinet simulator (cab sim) circuit in it, which may be a bit fancier than the actual unlined R100 cab itself. You can see it in the block diagram.
