Fender Rumble Club

Im really liking the 500c.

I feel like after a few days the drivers loosened up a bit and the sound got deeper.

There are things I dont "love" about the horn with these specific strings , but it took me trying a pile of strings to find ones I liked, so I'm not about to give them.up.

Occasionally I find myself disliking something about the rumble, then I unplug and walk over and plug into the crate peice of junk I've been playing on these last few months and get reminded just how good the rumble is.

My only real gripe about the rumble is the noise. That's just part of using a combo though. Having the amp directly attached to the cab , it's bound to make some noise.

I think im going to order a rumble 210 cab to pair with the 500. I don't need the volume, but having another 210s will let me keep the same volume without having to drive the speakers as hard.
Thay should keep some of the vibration based noise out of the 500..

If i were gigging with it, the noise wouldn't bother me. But when it's just me and the cab , I find the noise distracting.

You know, my R100 was doing that and I just popped the amp off and put a couple very thin rubber shims between the metal and the cab and it cleared it right up. You might give it a try.

It has nothing to do with the devaluation of the currency, the state imposes incredible taxes on imported goods(%70)

I don't care if I get ripped off, when it comes to music I don't mind paying the right amount of money, but I do care about the right equipment ;)

i can kind of see that if equivalent goods are made locally, but otherwise no.

Turn off the horn and listen. You may like it better without(I never use mine unless I'm running the CD player into it). For bass it only adds a 'buzz'-IME.

So, last practice at our place, just my 500C. I bought the 210 extension cab but couldn't use it there. So I bought a R500 head to use at home with the 210. They're all hooked together chained. 700 watts into 4 10s. Glorios!

Where are you playing? The "Big O?"

Edit: I just plugged a guitar into it instead of my bass and I am not having the problem. My compressor shows consistent signal coming from both instruments. Is it possible a weak signal from the bass that is never dropping to 0 is causing the sound to cut in and out?

Hey y'all, I started having an issue with my Rumble 200 this morning, and I figured this might be the best place to ask for advice.

The sound is abruptly cutting out and cutting back in somewhat randomly (2 to 30 seconds of silence and same time range with proper sound). The sound cuts back in abruptly, it does not fade in. I am in my apartment right now, so I'm avoiding troubleshooting at loud volumes. I've kept gain around 9 o'clock while experimenting with the full master volume range, and I've kept the master at 9 o'clock while experimenting with the full gain range.

I've ruled out my instrument and cables as problems. I am currently running through an MXR compressor with LED display which shows it is receiving signal from my bass while the amp is silent. I plugged all the cables I've used this morning into the front of the compressor to make sure they all send signal without cutting out.

The last time I used this amp was Friday night for 4-5 hours with the gain around 3 o'clock and the master maxed out. I'm using a passive jazz bass and my compressor is only bringing the input signal down. It is set to unity gain when my bass's signal is below the compressors threshold.

Please let me know if anybody has ideas for what could be causing this or how to troubleshoot. Thanks!

The manual has this caution:

Rumble 500/200 bass amplifiers are equipped with variable speed fan cooling and thermal shutdown protection. The fan will start at a low speed and increase as you play harder. Leave at least 6 inches of clearance between the vents on your amplifier and other objects. If the amplifier vents are blocked, or if it is used in an extremely hot environment, it may overheat and shut down, causing a temporary muting of the speaker while the power LED indicator remains on. Under the most extreme operating conditions it may be possible for the thermal shutdown to disrupt the amplifier power supply, causing the speaker to mute and the power LED indicator to turn off. If any shutdown (speaker muting) occurs, leave the power switch ON (to keep the fan running), and give the amplifier several minutes to cool down. The amplifier will automatically resume operation when it has returned to a safe operating temperature.

Have you tried plugging your bass directly into the amp (eliminate the compressor from the signal chain)?

Try plugging an instrument cable into the FX Send and the FX Return. If that seems to fix the problem, then you have a simple dirty switch in the FX Return jack that is easily cleaned! See the FX Return Jack Fix for Sound & Static Problems wiki page for complete explanations. :p

Hit post too soon...

Make sure the fan is still running when the amp cuts out. Maybe you're just asking too much of it, but possible the fan failed.

Is it possible the amp would overheat within 1-2 minutes of bedroom levels? (Gain and master at 9 o'clock) The back of the amp was almost touching the wall, but I couldn't hear the fan moving which I typically can after running at full band levels for a while. I have moved it away from the wall and continued playing at low levels, and the cutting out has continued but might be slightly less frequent.
