Try plugging an instrument cable into the FX Send and the FX Return. If that seems to fix the problem, then you have a simple dirty switch in the FX Return jack that is easily cleaned! See the FX Return Jack Fix for Sound & Static Problems wiki page for complete explanations.

This morning I played my Thunderbird Classic Pro straight into 2xRumble 100s, no pedals. It worked great for this set. It’s also the closest I've gotten to Leon’s tone when I saw Skynyrd in concert. Now if I could just play like him.

Have you tried plugging your bass directly into the amp (eliminate the compressor from the signal chain)?

Yep, I originally started playing this morning by plugging straight into the amp. I only added the compressor to the chain after I started troubleshooting.

I also earlier said the issue was only happening with the bass, but I've done more troubleshooting with my guitar and the issue continues no matter which instrument is plugged in. I've also noticed that if I let a note ring out and turn the power switch off, the sound will always cut in for a split second while the amp powers down.

Yikes. That's beyond my expertise. Do you live anywhere near a Fender authorized repair center?

Actually one other thing occurs to me, thinking about my own experience with my Rumble. The power switch on the amp died on me once, so I had to replace it. Do you think the power switch itself could be the problem? When you turn it on and off, do you feel the usual solid click, or does the switch feel kinda soft and vague? That's how mine felt when it went.

I haven't noticed any difference with the power switch, and the red light stays on when the sound cuts out.

Plenty of fender dealers around me, so I'll take it in to somebody this week if I can't figure out the problem at home!

I'm using a passive jazz bass and my compressor is only bringing the input signal down. It is set to unity gain when my bass's signal is below the compressors threshold. ... ... ...

Hey everyone, thanks for all the troubleshooting tips from Sunday! Unfortunately, the amp is still having the same issue. I just spoke with my nearest authorized fender repair center. They fender does not produce any components for the rumble series, so they would only be able to make repairs at the component level. Does this sound right? I've seen some other threads where AgedHorse said this is not true, but those are from a couple years ago. If it is true, I'm worried I'll be paying a $100 diagnostic fee to learn a PCB is busted and can't be replaced.

Some of us here have lobbied Fender to make an intermediate between the Rumble Studio 40 and the Rumble Stage 800. We call it the Rumble Club 400! See what we did there? It would, ideally, come in a 250 watt standalone 115 combo (add 8 ohm cab for 400w) and a head version, along with a lightweight 212 cab!! But, unfortunately, every year our hopes are dashed.

Hmmmm, wonder what they could be cooking up? New Rumble modeling combo(s) or cab(s), per previous discussions (like above)? Revamping the whole 10-year-old Rumble line to V4 (how could they possibly improve it)? How about adding bass modeling to the still-new Fender Tone Master Pro do-all modeling station, complete with bass versions of the powered FR-10 and FR-12 speaker cabs?

A. Did you buy your Rumble new within the last 2 years? I've not heard of many repairs being done, at all. But they are good at replacing the whole combo for such issues!

A. No I bought it 5-6 years ago.

2. I originally thought this could go to any fender dealer, but then I found Fender's list of authorized service centers. The shop that told me they would not be able to receive rumble parts from fender is an authorized service center.

iii. I'll be reaching out to to consumer relations next.

FWIW, just for S's & G's. My AT Cube 500 combo and AT 112 cab each cost about 2x the equivalent Rumble. Sounds (tastes) great. Less weight (filling).
Cube 350/500/800 – GRBass
AT Cube 112 – GRBass

GR Bass AT 212 (700W @ 25.8 lbs) and 212+ (900W @ 28.9 lbs)
AT 212 – GRBass

GR Bass AT 212 Slim (700W @ 21.8 lbs) and 212 Slim+ (900W @ 25.6 lbs)
AT 212 slim – GRBass

As a comparison, my AT 112 (350W) cab weighs 13.4 lbs. The 112+ (450W) cab weighs 15 lbs. Two 112 or 112+ weigh not much more than their single 212 equivalents. Me personally, I'd buy two of the single speaker cabs with a head that can drive one or two 8 ohm cabs.

Anyplace I'm ever again likely to play, anything over 250-300W would be unused and at the pay rates in this area, anything boutique-y is outta the question. I truly don't give a ratz@$$ how good a $2K amp sounds into $1500+ cab. Unless "The Prize Patrol" shows up, I ain't buyin' none o' that [stuff]. And the onliest band I might consider going to see-Chicago-in concert(again)doesn't use amps onstage-everything is wireless direct.
Between my 3xRumbles and the Kasino, I gots all the oomph I'll ever need. And they're all paid for.
