Fender Rumble Club

It occurs to me that since the Kasino was built long B4 EFX in/out, I'd prolly hafta plug the 'Bird into the Kasino then run a cable from Kasino "line out">Rumble 200c either input or(maybe)EFX return. Either way, it'd be ~240 +/-W outta 3x15's.
R-O-O-O-A-A-R!:hyper:
Or the Rumble Send into the Kasino input. Nah, I trust the Rumble input to be more robust.

Hi everyone, I'm writing here a problem with my Rumble 500 combo. The bass signal enters the DI (a brand new bss ar-133) powered with phantom, then from the link output it goes to the combo. The strange thing is that if I disconnect the cable from the combo input I hear a loud noise in the PA, why do you think? Thanks to those who will help me!

I use a Neutrik Silent Plug on my instrument cable. They also make a straight version, replace with whichever works best for the plug you are having the noise issue with.

Just seen the posts on the OD above.

I struggle to get the OD sounding "equal" against clean and not thin sounding, so you can switch it without having to change other settings.

it seems to sound better with vintage engaged, so what I've got is: Clean = gain at 10:30, bass at 11, low mid at 1pm, high mids at 2, and treble at 10:30. Vintage engaged.

Then for OD I have drive at 12 and level at 8:45.

Gives same volume. I found the drive needs to be fairly high or it sounds too thin. This is jazz bass with flats.

Any other tips?

PS my other half hates it. Does that mean I've got it right?

Hi guys,

Got a Rumble 500 head on the way to use as a beater amp. I was reading in the manual about the bridged outputs and posted this thread about it. It concerns the 150, 200, 350 and 500 heads. Any comments from head owners about this?

I'm getting some cables with insulated plugs just to be on the safe side.

OK, then! @brianrost, you are now member #1775 in the Fender Rumble Club. Congratulations and welcome. Put that number in your TalkBass Signature for safe keeping. Then make yourself at home here and on your Rumble Club Wiki page, the repository of all Rumbling wisdom and knowledge.

So, how about telling us a bit about yourself, such as your bass experience in general and your Rumble journey in particular? You'll fit right in here since we have all kinds. But we all love to ... ... ...

Kinda quiet here. Still tryin' to figger out new TB?

It has a very different visual look, but I've been getting used it, little by little.

I'm finding my way around pretty good, now, I think. I've noticed some broken things getting fixed, too! Patience is paying off. :smug:

Yes, berry, that's a great way to connect two Rumble combos. The controls on the Send combo will completely control the Return combo, as well! The controls on the Return combo will do nothing. There's no danger, or problems, with this arrangement. Of course, both combos must be plugged in because you're using the power amp in both of them.

No, you will not get 400w that way, but a solid 280w. Each Rumble 200 combo can only produce up to 140w by itself. You have to connect an 8 ohm cab to the Extension Speaker jack to get the full 200w, which is then split evenly between the internal speaker and the Extension Speaker. Adding a Rumble 115 speaker to each combo will get you 400w thru 4x15"!!!

Let us know when you get 'em. Pix are appreciated, but not strictly required, to get a free membership to The Club here!

Hey guys I have a question.

I'm looking to buy 2x fender rumble 200 combos and daisy chain them together. Can this be done? I'm assuming FX send 1 to FX return 2. Would this give me 400w of power through 2x15s?

Any thoughts for or against? Thank you!
Because the R200c puts out 140W @ 8ohms through the internal speaker, daisy chaining would give you 280W through 2x15s. To get 400W, you'd need a R115 cab for each R200c then daisy chain one 200c to the other for 400W>4x15s.
200c: $580/34.5lbs.(each)
115 cab: $400/39 lbs.(each)
Totals: $1960/147 lbs.
Still less $ and weight than an SVT/fridge.
EDIT: @G-Dog beat me to it while I looked up the prices and specs, but ya get the idea

Hi all, I just got a Fender Rumble 500 used from GC. Got it home and tested it out more thoroughly and noticed the thing hissed some when the tweeter is on… its especially noticeable when adding drive, gain, or engaging the bright switch. I’m pretty sure this is typical (from my experience with gain knobs anyways), but I’ve never had a cab with a tweeter before, so just want make sure it’s working as expected. All okay? I’ve read a couple other threads with others having same issue, but had mixed responses. BTW… I went with this cause it’s surprisingly light and sounds pretty good. I’ve always had 15” speakers, so the clarity of the 10s and tweeter is welcome.

I hope you got a b-i-g discount on it, 'cause that is not normal nor to be expected, and no manufacturer's warranty to help since you bought it used. But if you can turn it off, or it doesn't bother you, then "do your thing"! @Basslie, you are now member #1776 in the Fender Rumble Club. Congratulations and welcome. Many Rumblers turn the tweeter off for playing bass and only use it when playing music thru the Aux In. My own 10-year-old Rumble 500 combo makes no such extraneous noise! I can never tell if the tweeter is on or off, and I've never heard the fan. I was a 15" snob until getting this Rumble, which sounds just as good as any of my 15s, but about half, or less, of the weight!

So, Basslie, how about telling us a bit about yourself, such as your bass experience in general and your Rumble journey in particular? You'll fit right in here since we have all kinds. But we all love to ... ... ...

I just listened to someone’s video they uploaded somewhere on TB of their “hiss” sound. Mine’s not that bad, more like white noise / air. Just checked with nothing plugged in. I do hear it when any of the knobs are past noon, getting louder as levels go up. Overdrive knobs (drive and level) adds another layer of noise, similar to drive on other amps I’ve had would. it is audible in the headphones. Overall it sounds like normal white noise I’ve had with other amps when turned up, but maybe I’ve just had bad luck with amps, lol. When I engage the tweeter it adds another layer of a white noise/air/hiss kind of sound, seemingly more focused and present than the 2x10s. It’s not a hum or buzz. Just another layer of “air” sound. Definitely not dead quiet when nothing is plugged in, but not really audible unless the knob is above noon. It is present in the headphones and seems linked to the EQ. I’ve got 45 days to return if need be.. Was initially wanting something else, but this was my #2 pick based on weight and reviews.

You think the sound will come through the DI? I have yet to test that since I just got it.

About me: been playing since around 2000. Recently sold off all my active basses cause I wanted a more traditional sound and got tired of fiddly knobs and batteries. I got a P with flats and J with rounds now, both 5 strings. I also play upright bass (4 string). I kinda genre hop based on what I’m asked to do, usually church work.

Always had 15” cabs. 1x15s and a big old 2x15”. Trying some smaller speaker sizes was a bit enlightening. I could actually hear my notes and dynamics more distinctly. Maybe I’ll add a 15” extension later, I dunno, but most times these days it’s DI with in ears.

I was debating between this Fender 500 and a Carvin BX700 amp head and BRX10.2 cab. However I went for the lighter and less expensive option… not to mention it’d be hard to find info or help with the Carvin gear since they’re defunct.

Also… cool number I got: 1776 🇺🇸

Not that much to figure out, IMHO. The new layout works great with my iPad, and the speed issues have mostly been fixed, so I’m a happy camper. 😊
I miss the hover-to-open feature for the notifications dropdown from the old version, and I would love to have greater contrast between read and unread notifications. Once you open the notifications dropdown the first time, the faint gray background disappears from all of the other unread notifications. Trying to find the next one chronologically (bottom to top) is WAY more work that it should be. Even the slightly thicker line separating new from previous notifications is difficult to differentiate. Also, with the previous version, many times (but not always) the notification list was truncated to just he currently unread ones. Not anymore. If there's an option to change that, I'm not aware of it.
