Fender Rumble Club

I miss the hover-to-open feature for the notifications dropdown from the old version, and I would love to have greater contrast between read and unread notifications. Once you open the notifications dropdown the first time, the faint gray background disappears from all of the other unread notifications. Trying to find the next one chronologically (bottom to top) is WAY more work that it should be. Even the slightly thicker line separating new from previous notifications is difficult to differentiate. Also, with the previous version, many times (but not always) the notification list was truncated to just he currently unread ones. Not anymore. If there's an option to change that, I'm not aware of it.

You can set options that leave your unread notifications unread, so when you read one, then come back to notifications, the rest are still marked unread. This is actually working great now.

I have not, however, figured out how to disable the achievements and trophies 🙄

There are a few features from the old version I miss as well, but I frankly regard it as the cost of doing business. There’s always a period of adjustment after major upgrades, and the overall user experience, apart from some minor annoyances, is already better than the old version, IMHO.

... ... ... Overall it sounds like normal white noise I’ve had with other amps when turned up, ... ... When I engage the tweeter it adds another layer of a white noise/air/hiss kind of sound, ... ... ...

:wideyed: So, it has white noise even without the tweeter turned on?!? That's definitely not normal. You might see if they have a brand new, 2 year warrantied unit you can try to see the difference. Then consider the noise vs price difference carefully.

HI, i have searched but cant find a definitive answer to this - can i replace the grille on my Rumble 500 v3 combo? Accidently managed to put the head of my bass thru it at the end of a gig!! So i have a nice 6 inch tear along the top of the speaker now,

Sure, suir, you can replace the ripped grille cloth. All you need is the new cloth and a staple gun. You can order the same cloth from amp parts, or you can use pretty much any other fabric that strikes your fancy.

Sorry, I've not heard of a source for a whole new frame with cloth installed, though. If you're leary of your own DIY skills, then a furniture upholsterer might do it.

Have you filed these as suggestions?

Thanks. Took me a second or two to find, but holy smokes, what a lot of check boxes to untick. I just unticked all of them.

Could you describe where I find these notification options? Thanks in advance.

Asking all the amp experts here: I found a way to bypass the hiss/white noise on the Rumble 500 combo I got. If I use an external preamp pedal into the Return on the 500’s FX loop, I get no hiss, and is dead quiet (other then the fan) even with the tweeter on. So, seems to be something with the amp’s input jack or preamp/EQ. It makes the sound even with nothing in the input jack. Have yet to try and see if it’s present in the XLR out, but I suspect it will be. It was in the headphones too, but not effected by tweeter on/off… so the tweeter is making its own noise, that is not carried into the outputs. It’s something preamp/EQ. I’ve had old solid states that make this noise at higher volumes. The combo isn’t noticeable until around noon on master and gain. It’s not noticeable when playing cause it’s drowned out. I’m guessing it’d be amplified in an extension cab too(?) Is it as G-Dog implied and I got a dud in terms of a dead quiet amp? Seems a bit extreme to call it a ‘dud,’ when it otherwise works fine and sounds good. I’ve got 45 (well 45 now) days to return. It was used.

It sounds like you may have dirty/oxidized jacks. Power down and unplug the amp. Get a can of DeoxIT and put a quick, light spurt in each input and effects loop jack and run a 1/4" plug in and out a few times. Give it about 10 minutes for any residue and/or fumes to evaporate and try the amp again.

You just reminded me that I have a can of that I got from an amp tech years ago, probably for that purpose. Forgot where it came from and had just been using to clean the battery terminals on my kids toys, lol. Thanks MadJack! I’ll keep you posted.

Seems you've isolated the noise tonthe preamp. Plugging into only the FX Return effectively bypasses the built-in preamp entirely. And, since the XLR Out is downstream of the FX Loop it should not have the noise during that bypass.
Thanks G-Dog. I’m gonna try MadJack’s suggestion. I’ve got some DeOxit spray. I suppose if I really need it to be quiet I can use my Flyrig style preamp pedal into the return. Btw…. My jazz bass sounds great through the 2x10s + tweeter, especially slap, tap and chordal type stuff. Feel like I’d been doing it a disservice on the with my 1x15 and 2x15 cabs.

Well… The DeOxit didn’t work. Did some more testing and the hiss is present through the DI too. Not as bad- I have to crank the monitors to hear it, but it’s there. Activating the overdrive section in the amp makes the white noise super present— I guess that’s to be expected with overdrive. Ground lift made no difference. Only way to defeat the white noise is using a preamp pedal into the return, therefore bypassing the amps input and preamp/EQ. I usually use the 4 cable method, so I do use the input. It’s just a noisy input and preamp I guess. Not much to do short of hitting it really hard, lol. I could tolerate white noise in the speakers, but the noise coming through the DI sucks. I tried multiple outlets, including the protected ones like are in the kitchen, and I’m in a newly built house so I doubt electrical is the issue. I checked the serial number… it’s dated January 2024… so it’s relatively new. I should have gone with the Carvin rig. I’ll look into returning and see if the other place will hold the Carvin for me, unless guitar center is willing to swap a used amp for a new one they had in stock— which I doubt. Bummer. I liked this… I was wanting to move away from combos but the light weight of this really sold me. Keep me in the club until I’m for sure jumping ship— maybe GC will come through. I like my member number too 😀

There's always the combo club, too... https://www.talkbass.com/threads/the-combo-club.1142208/ :bassist:
