Fender Rumble Club

You guys! 🤨 Well, from reading the GR specs I can't say I really blame ya, weightwise. 🙄 But, poisonally, I ain't got the extra scratch that those things cost! 😱

Have y'all checked in at the GR Bass Club? 😉
Yeah. The Prize Patrol must've gotten lost Saturday. I'll stick with what I can afford(already have)'cos mufunzalo.

Yeah, I can't justify the cost of those t, but I'm sure they sound great, and the light weight would make loading in and out so much easier!

Yea was a bit pricey but I think in the long run it will be worth it. Not only in the sound but just that weight savings is huge! I have two Rumble 210 cabinets, each are 39 lbs. So you see the attraction of a cabinet that is only 18 lbs.! I may get a second one at some point and sell off the Rumble cabinets. Funny, I actually looked into replacing the speakers in those Rumble 210 cabinets but unfortunately Fender doesn't sell those Eminence neodymium speakers they put into the 800 combo. That is a shame! I even reached out to Eminence and nope.

For anyone interested, here a full Rumble stack
Stage 800 plus two 210 cabs

Made between 2021 and 2024
Each piece has different looks and tembr. Combo has a strong 100-200Hz hump, cabs have gentle 40-80Hz hump and sound more HiFi. I thought there's a HPF built for before internal speakers so I connected them to the extension cab socket instead of internal connection and sound was the same.

Vents exits are rounded in combo and sharp in cabs. For unclear reason combo has a top handle by design which I replaced with side ones, cabs have side handles by design.

From the top
Cab bought in Aug 24
Combo bought in Dec 21
Cab bought in Feb 24

Fellow Rumblers, I presently have a Rumble 100 that sounds great for my 4 string basses but is a bit anemic for my 5 string. Would two Rumble 100’s run together (effects send to return) make an appreciable difference in overall volume for the low B string? If I understand it correctly it would give me 200 watts though 2x12 speakers. Also it would give me a lot of flexibility in that I could use them independently for stereo speakers for my keyboards and acoustic guitars. I’ve used the one that I have as a makeshift P/A speaker and it worked surprisingly well. Please correct any misunderstandings that I might have. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

You understand it exactly correctly, el jeffe. 👍 Lotsa Rumblers here do that exact pairing!

I'd recommend to make sure you identified the culprit. In my case it was the string not fitting the bridge well and I chose tapered ones. Now I am happy with my A-0 note. It sounds good on FRStudio 40 and FRStage 800

Could you be more specific, soko? Exactly how did your string not fit the bridge? Too wide? Fabric wrap too long, past the bridge?

I guess the pickup height under the weak string(s) could be too low, also?

Fellow Rumblers,

Tonight my 500c simply cut out while I was playing at home -- total loss of power in the middle of a jam -- no red lights on, no nothing. And after about a minute it all came back on. This is the second time this has happened in the last few weeks. The first time I assumed I had a loose electrical connection some place and tightened what need to be tightened cable wise. I guess that was not the issue.

My board stayed powered, it and my amp are running off the same electrical outlet, and have been for a long time. I have acquired a few more pedal recently, including a Sushibox UA that uses a bit more power. No clue if that is part of the equation.

Amp is less that one year old, I was running my board through the effects loop.

Any ideas?

What I've found during the times I've played(4 string) through 2xR100s is fullness-in addition to more volume(but that wasn't the goal). That might do the trick for your 5er.

May be time for a warranty repair or replacement from an Authorized Fender Service Center!

Glad you solved the problem, soko. Perhaps the .160 was too big to move quickly for the punch you wanted.
Well, 160 isn't to heavy per se
The heavier the string the stronger the sound
Problem was, I think, different: in-tapered string didn't break good enough on a bridge witness point.
Right now there are some other tapered d'addarios on their way from 0.145 to 0.170 for sake of tests

Yes, I find my .150 low B to also be quite strong sounding, but sometimes a bit slow on the attack unless I'm using a pick on it (rarely). I assume it's just inertia of the heavier string.

I had to replace the off/on (power) switch in my Rumble 40 a few years ago. All of a sudden there was no power, and I also noticed that the off/on switch didn't "click" into place when I turned it on; it felt soft, for lack of a better word. I bought a replacement switch on Amazon, checked out some YouTube videos and I was able to replace it. I described it here at the time, and I believe my description is stored somewhere in @G-Dog's extensive wiki compilation. I don't know if your problem is the same thing, but I thought I would mention it.

Yes, John, your On/Off Switch Replacement post is linked on your Rumble Club Wiki page in the Modifications section for all to reference.

@G-Dog
You asked the mass of [modified] Rumbles:

Stage 800 with added side handles: 18.6kg
210 cab with added (pretty flimsy) wheels: 17.9kg

Stage 800 with added side handles: 18.6kg = 41.01 lb.s versus 39 lb.s (17.69 kg) unmodified
210 cab with added (- flimsy) wheels: 17.9kg = 39.46 lb.s versus 39 lb.s (17.69 kg) unmodified
Not bad.

Thanks very much, sokolasty.

I went to a semi-local music store today, took my Cort B5 Element with EB Cobalt Flats, and checked out the Rumble 500c and 200c.

I set both amps to the official Rumble Club flat tone settings, made sure the preset tone switches were all out, set the gain knobs to 12 o'clock, then adjusted the master volume to a decent level.

The preamp on my Cort was not flat, I had adjusted it to fit my tone preference through my Xenyx 502 mixer with Sennheiser On-ear headphones.

After checking the low 'B' through the 500c, I backed the bass control off just a bit on my Cort.

The 200c did not seem to be handling my low 'B' string very well, it did not really distort, it just sounded like it was struggling, and I wasn't pushing the amp at all - the Master control was at about 10 o'clock.

The 500c sounded very good throughout the range of my bass, with a decently solid low 'B'.

I was hoping they would have an 800c, but no such luck.

Considering that I don't think I will ever play in a band that would need more SPL than the 500c can dish out, I don't really see the point in the extra 50W that the 800c gives at 8 Ohm.

I know people say the 800c has better definition over the 500c, but to me, the 500c sounded fine.

I don't have audiophile ears, by any means, so I some of you have different results then, this is just my feeble perceptions.

Rumble On...
