Fender Rumble Club

Hope you are staying safe from those floods in Texas, Miles...I notice you live not that far from Austin..which is a Sister City to my hometown of Adelaide South Aust. Anyone affected by the horrendous Texas floods...we are thinking of you here in Australia and praying for your safety...Australia, a country that also is affected by terrible flooding at times. Stay safe all those affected by this tragedy.

Thanks, Giffy. I have a nephew, and his wife, that live just 4-5 blocks from the main river that flooded!!! But, fortunately, his house was safe. But he hasn't heard how all his local friends fared, yet. Yes, it's been horrendous.

A purchase I made a couple months ago. Fender pick-shaped leather coasters (4). I don't wanna spoil them by putting drink glasses on them so mounted them on the foam backing loll. I have a couple of Fender stools I keep at the small bar in the family room so I keep them on top of the bar as decoration.
ps. The picture with the glass was from the net showing comparative size of the coasters.

Well I added to my existing Rumble 100. I did some mods to the 100 also, new speaker, extra foam and added connections to use the speaker with another amp.

So I bought a Rumble 800 head and that worked nice with the 100 cabinet for small stuff. So now I bought a Rumble 2x10 cabinet for larger stuff. so I think I can cover about any size gig.

Here is a pic.

Hey Rumbler's - can you buy black speaker cloth without going to Fender to match the 2x10 - thanks

Best speaker cloth you can buy is "Pet Screen" for windows and patio door screens. Indestructible! I work in a hardware store that does window screen repair. I used it on my fEARful 15/6 and other cabs. You absolutely cannot tear it.

This is a pic of it on my old fEARful 15/6 with regular metal grills on my 110/6's to the right...

Actually I did a mod to the 100 where I can use the Speaker with another amp. Check the attached speaker.

So I have the 800 going to both the 100 cabinet and the 2x10 cabinet. But I can also use the 100 with it's internal amp.

I know. I thought the head had a switch for 800w / 100w (200s?). But it appears not to have that. Selecting low power when using just the 12” would avoid the possibility of blowing the speaker.

I have been playing the 100 box with the 800 head for about 4 months and never had a problem. The 800 at 8 ohms is only about 400 watts and in the small gigs I do I have never put the output higher than say 10 to 11. So that makes it less than 200 watts and the speaker is a rms powered at 250.

with both cabinets at 4 ohms on the amp - the output is stated at 800, and I have never set the output higher than 9. It has never left my house - so at that probably around 200 watts.

And in my 51 years of playing I have never seen anyone set their amp full blast on the output knob and as most know to low of power will blow a speaker faster than over power - good drivers will shut down first.

I just became aware of the new ivory Rumble 500. I like the look of it, but not enough to wanna buy one. I really liked the look of the Limited Edition tan/wheat Rumble 200 that they made a few years ago, and I wish I would have bought one of those while they were still available. I wish (like many other bass players) that Fender would make a few more of the tan/wheat Rumbles, and/or a Rumble in blonde with oxblood grill cloth (like the Tone Master Twin Reverb) and/or a Rumble in lacquered tweed with brown/gold grill cloth (like the Tone Master '59 Bassman). I'd buy any of those in a heartbeat.

Also, I have a question about the weight of these Fender Class D bass combo amps. How come the Tone Master '59 Bassman (4 x 10") weighs less (32 lb) than the Rumble 500 (2 x 10") (37.5 lb)? I realize that the Tone Master '59 Bassman may be marketed more as a guitar amp (it has a built-in spring reverb), but would the Tone Master '59 Bassman be a decent bass amp?
