Fender Rumble Club

Well...I gotta say, I really love the new Rumble 800c. I will be purchasing an extension cabinet. I'm leaning toward the Rumble 4x10 or 2x10...I guess my decision will come down to the great advice of the other Rumble-folk and my own insane and tedious research. It's a great sound!!

I believe it comes down to your tolerance for schlepping gear. The svelte, sexy 210 just weighs 10 lb.s more than your 800c. The stocky, sturdy 410 weighs 33.5 lb.s more (AKA more than twice the 800c), but has casters to roll on.

Here's a thought; get one of each! Your 800c can drive them both at the same time!! Make as many A/B comparisons as you possibly can during the sellers return period and keep whichever "floats your boat", or both if you've a mind to.

Another option to consider: Get two cabs, one 2×10 and one 1×15 and use them together.

A $10 part. After two attempts at getting it fixed and being told that is was a lost cause (including the Fender tech), a local guy here fixed it with no real problem. After 12 years of great service and hundreds of gigs, I thought my Rumble was kaput. Nope. Took me three techs but one fixed it easy.

I was wondering that too, but actually you don't need electrical know-how for this particular repair, just a little common sense (I never thought I had any, but evidently I do).

1) When you unscrew the panel from the amp, there is one cable that you have to unplug from the inside of the panel, but it's easy to unplug it. You don't have to unscrew it or strip wires or anything, you just unplug this one cable connector. This is just to get the panel removed from the amp.

2) Then, to change out the power switch, you first have to unplug four wires from the old switch. The four wires...

To be clear, from your other thread, the techs you talked to over the phone never saw the amp, they just guessed that it was unrepairable.

It is impossible to diagnose an amp as unrepairable without actually running diagnostics on it. In fact, it’s impossible to fully diagnose an amp without actually diagnosing it.

This is why I recommend qualified techs, and imo those techs are not qualified to touch a screwdriver.

Yeah, unless it's an actual Fender repair tech, it's hard to know how qualified a tech really is. Before I dove in and replaced the switch on my Rumble, I took it to a local tech who is highly thought of in my area; two guitar shops told me he was THE guy to go to, for repairing Fender amps. And he looked at my amp, ran a few tests, and said it couldn't be fixed. But it was fixed -- by me, the most non-qualified non-tech in the universe, with a $10 replacement part.

Sometimes I think these techs just don't want to bother with a small job.

I'd be interested to hear from anyone else playing grunge songs, see if there are some good presets on the go. We're covering Alice in Chains, Stone Temple Pilots, Bush, that sort of stuff, so nice chunky, mid-scooped bass tones that really stand out. Not yet had a chance to tinker with the 800, so any thoughts and feedback would be amazing!

If I had to guess just from the tone on the recording, I say probably a 200, but I suppose you might be able to EQ a 500 or 800 to sound like that, I haven't played them enough to know - so basically, with a passive bass guitar straight in, it's much easier to get that tone out of the 200 than the other two.

I can clearly hear that Rumble has horn Turn Off and Vintage button engage .......

I suspected 200 as well, partly why I asked. At "home" levels i prefer the 200, apart from the beaming. The 500 doesn't sound as warm, and I don't do the sort of playing that would show off the 210s to advantage. Gig volume another story, so looking forward to unleashing them on that

My Rumble 200 to me anyways, sounds terrible with the Vintage button engaged, with all my basses and I have a Jazz and Precision (but not a 1973). And I always use the horn LOL. It still sounds warm and full.

When i own the Rumble 200 V3, i only love how she sound with Vintage button ON .....
