Yes. (Bats headstock eyelashes)Is that a Rumble, or are you happy to see me?![]()
Hey all! Signing up for the club.
Been a lurker on the forums for probably more than a decade but finally got myself an account.
In the past 2 years I’ve picked up the bass again (off and on since high school) and finally have gotten consistent, joining one band and starting another. I’ve been lugging this bad boy (Rumble 200) around with me for many, many years. I think I picked it up for around $300 used at a Guitar Center back in the day.
It’s been put to good use. My first gig ever and my friend’s daughter’s wedding. These things are great value for the money IMO.
Thank you so much, MadJack, for the detailed tutorial on replacing the grill cloth. Using your instructions, I believe that I can probably replace the grill cloth on my Rumble, if I’m patient and careful.…In the next few weeks I should get the Blonde Tolex and brown handle, so I can finish the '63 looking Rumble.

However, I have less confidence in my ability to replace the Tolex, so I look forward to reading your instructions on that aspect of the makeover.
I made a new frame for when I turned my 210 sideways for my Bassman/Rumble stack.Good job, looks much better!

Did the same thing - however, I made new frames for the new grill cloth. Pretty simple DIY-project, if you have the tools and some pieces of plywood in the right dimensions. This way you can change beetween the two in a heartbeat. You will need to get a (metal!) Fender logo for the new grill, though.

I used the aged silver grill cloth and the metal logo.
You wont be sorry getting the 115 cab..I love the sound of the 500c with it's 2x10" drivers connected to the 115 ext cab..great sound. The dimensions of the 115 cab are different though and the combo doesnt sit on top quite equally but you could always turn the combo on its side if needed..I dont bother..I dont suffer from the dreaded Obsessive-compulsive disorder and just sit the 500 Combo on top of the 115..in my opinion..I think they look great together and sound even better.

The Rumble 115 came today. I said "Joy!" like Stimpy. Here's a pic of it beneath my R500 combo. I can tell it likes living there. I plugged in and played a little, and I'm reasonably sure it will clear clogged drains. Who needs Liquid Plumber, right? Soon I will be going to play with some guys who need a bass player, and I'll be Rumbling their world. View attachment 4693110
... ... ... anyone else who has added a 115 cab to their R500c: Do you still like the combination of the two amps together for practice? Does the 115 addition result in a better overall tone at low volumes, in your opinion?
There's a 115 cab available locally that I'm thinking of adding to my R500c, but almost all of my playing is practicing at low volume in my music room. Before committing, I'm trying to find out if the addition is worth the effort, tonally.
In my opinion it is more for a place where you can crank it up. You do get a nice frequency response across a wide spectrum though.
It does sound really cool though, G-Dog.First of all, a cab does not have an amp. So, adding a cab to a R500c is not two amps, it's one amp with two cabs (one with the amp buil-in.) My wife got me a Bassman 115 cab thinking it was an amp, but I had nothing to drive it until I got a R500c..
I've really only used my BM115 with my R500c a few times in 12 years for loud outdoor stages. The 350 watts of the R600c alone is usually plenty of volume and tone for most gigs. I almost never use the BM115 for gigs and I certainly never use it for home practice. Maybe that's just me, ... ... well, and MrB64.
But don't get me wrong! I always like to encourage getting more Rumbles. If you like practicing with a bit of volume then, by all means, get the 115 cab and go for it!! You may then be all the more ready to join a loud band and really rock it out!![]()

lol
Wait, there's an R600c?
lol
Looks like Doggy dipped one of his claws in the 600c inkpot and dribbled ink..it should read 500c but i'm sure he wouldnt mind if there was another rumble rated 600 lolllWait, there's an R600c?
lol
Actually I do keep the R500c hooked up to the R115 cab in my lounge room and only pull it all apart for gigs. I like a bit more practise volume sometimes instead of through my usual practise amp with the R40c...I like to keep the neighbours on their toes...It goes like this some nights...you let ya dogs bark all night then take this... a dose of R500c and 115 ext cab the next day. lol@Giffro and @MrB64 and anyone else who has added a 115 cab to their R500c: Do you still like the combination of the two amps together for practice?
