Well, seems I misquoted and incorrectly blamed engineering for bad casters in these behemoth amps. No offense intended all.

I'm an engineer too but not in manufacturing so I guess I threw shade at myself a little too.

Onward and upward gents, I stand corrected.

You just know there was an engineer somewhere laughing "they think these casters will work?" Meanwhile they save $5 on each amp by using small and insufficient ones.

Like the last American brand car I ever bought, an '84 Buick Gran Sport. The power antenna failed twice. I didn't replace it the second time. The cassette deck had no Dolby decoder, when EVERY commercial cassette came Dolby-encoded. And the brakes. Who could forget the 4-wheel disk brakes. The manual said "check them every 30,000 miles". I'd already spent $1,500 on brake work by 12,000. A Buick engineer finally admitted that they undersized the brakes.

I do NOT miss that beast.

It won't be the engineer, it will finish in the bean-counter's office and them going, "we've got these casters that cost 50 cents instead of the 5 dollar ones that engineering want..." lol.
Can't tell you how many times I've had that happen to me on projects. But engineering gets thrown under the bus for the shortcoming!

Yep, and I was designing roads and bridges so the scale of material and labor cost were significantly greater….millions or hundreds of millions on some projects…

I earned my Rumble Club merit badge—40 minutes out to buy the rumble 40, 3 hours back, last Friday night. For some, that’s just Tuesday. For me: rush hour is if I don’t get through the light on the first cycle.
I used it yesterday at our contemporary service and I think it improved my tone, if for no other reason than I could hear myself playing. There aren’t enough monitors to go around and I can’t hear me from the other four (a 12 string guitarist, 10 year old drummer on an electric kit, a contralto pianist, and a spinto soprano). In my 3 years as back up bassist, I’ve never heard anyone say, “could I get a little more bass in my monitor?”

I love the tone and volume of my Rumble Combo 500..especially when I have the 115 cab connected..power and clarity enough for a stadium gig lol. Congrats on your purchase. @G-Dog will be in to offer you a membership number if you already havent got one.

Yeah, bass is not the favorite sound of other musicians. It's their own they wanna hear. I'm lucky to have a very vocal bass fan in the congregation at my church, though. And he gets there early for sound check, too. I've been asked how much I pay him!

The Rumble 115 came today. I said "Joy!" like Stimpy. Here's a pic of it beneath my R500 combo. I can tell it likes living there. I plugged in and played a little, and I'm reasonably sure it will clear clogged drains. Who needs Liquid Plumber, right? Soon I will be going to play with some guys who need a bass player, and I'll be Rumbling their world.

I still have and regularly use my college HP15C, the 16C doesn’t get much use today but it’s still working fine. Also have emulators for the 15C on my phone and computers. Never expected to see a calculator discussion in talk bass.

I should not continue this off-topic discussion, but the 16C was my friend for many, many years. I was an embedded software engineer for HP (1983-1994, Medical Systems) and loved my 16C. When I started teaching, I used it as an example of a stack architecture computer. I still have it. Can't part with it.

Yep! I had that config in the 90s with my BXR Fenders. I liked it a lot.
