It could be the cable? A lot of us have used the XLR out to a board and it usually works great. Usually XLR to XLR though.no. xlr to 1/4 " male
Is the male TRS and have you tested it with a dynamic mic?
That's odd, mine is dead quiet. Be sure to check your gain structure to make sure you are at unity gain.
Yes, if you go in through the effects return you are by passing the Rumble front end and using the ZOOM B3 as a pre-amp. This is the way to go if you are using the various amp models.

I did. thanks for asking. I actually used a different cable a lyxpro 1/4 trs to female xlr. The cable that wasn't working was from radioshack.. It worked with my microphone fine but was not liking the rumble for some reason.. All is well now..
