Sorry I didn't get this review in time prior to your order but it looks like you'll get to see it for yourself Kingkrabb
Anyways after a week of rehearsals and a gig over the weekend I can do a basic review of the Fender 115 V3 Cabinet. I got it from my local GC and my initial reaction was that it isn't very small. It is a nice prominent 15 inch speaker that just announces itself. I hooked up my new trusty GK700RBii with a nice speakon cable and gave it a whirl. Oh man does this thing project. I have played only a few rigs in my short time and I have to say I am a huge fan of 15 inch cabs. The low end just took me into this world of sub basement sound that really went nicely to balance against the naturally bright tones I get from the GK head. The cabinet has a tweeter control too so if I needed more definition I could pop that on, but do yourself a favor and try it off, sounds amazing too.
When I took it to rehearsals I noticed it took up a good amount of space but when positioned properly on its side, could fit in a single back passenger seat in my compact hatchback. Gave be plenty of space for the rest of my small car to bring other gear or give a ride. Everyone noticed the sound when I took it in, my bass (a MIA Fender Standard P) fit so well when using this cab alongside our bass drum heavy drummer and a chunky Les Paul guitarist. I was immediately able to find my sonic space, deep in the subs I love. I played through it at all kinds of volumes and in various spaces to get different sounds it it held up for 2 days of rehearsals that were each approx 10 hrs. Over the weekend we played for multiple short sets a day and it rocked the room. It totally stood its own in our mix.
While I understand a lot of tone shaping comes from the amp, this cab performed exactly how I needed it to perform and was a great combo with my GK RB head and P Bass with flats.
Pros:
Great build quality, everything looked nice and worked how I needed it to work
Low end is powerful and really announces itself in whatever setting I used it in
Looks great with an easy to remove front cover (I definitely love the look)
While it isn't as light as some of the GK Neo series cabs I'm eyeing, it certainly isn't too bad, I can carry it with one hand
Cons:
Definitely want to play with some EQ to get clearer highs if you're more into soloing, jazz, etc. It's a 15 inch cab, what can you expect? I suggest pairing it with a 112 or 210 maybe (to get a good balance?).
Can be heavy for some, but definitely portable
Conclusion:
If this is the only cab you're getting I'd recommend considering what music you play. For me, I play a lot of rock, blues, funk, and gospel styles which make good use of a 15 inch cab in my opinion. I would definitely consider this and the Rumble heads as a great portable rig for your bass needs. If you're more into the soloing, jazz, or other styles that make strong use of higher notes constantly and you find yourself rolling off Lows and Low-Mids a lot in favor of boosted highs, then consider 10 inch or 12 inch speakers. It's not that this cab can not produce highs, but it's definitely something I had to EQ a little more for. Currently I run a 4 band EQ (Lows at 2, Low Mid at 3, High Mid at 2, and Treble at noon for the high ceiling carpeted room I gigged in) and it sounded good; both when I was playing my Low E and doing a solo featuring the D and G strings. All in all, a great cab for a good price.
