Thank you. The Amp has just come out of the repair shop so it should be running perfectly, it is just cosmetically ROUGH, I will get a showman head case in the future to fix that. The power tubes would have been totally new, but I wanted to get the head now and worry about the tubes later. I have a VT Bass pedal so I will see how that goes. Thanks for the suggestion about the series/parallel cabs, but I am going to pass on that, the cone area alone nevermind the weight would be prohibitive to taking that setup to any gig unless it is really needed. Fender Super Twin Bass Head

Just thought I'd post a few pics and info on my new (old) Fender Super Twin amp that I converted to a bass head.
anyway, here's some pics of it with it's 2-15 JBL K140 cab:

Kind of digging up an old thread, but would it be safe to run a super twin with an 8 ohm load? I noticed it says 4 ohm "min" on the back so I'm assuming it is safe.. but im not totally sure 
If that's the case that the output transformer is looking for a 4 or 2 ohm load and not 8, it's likely safe to use 8 at lower levels, but I wouldn't be cranking one into the red, and I wouldn't run that way in any amp I owned. Lower levels generally won't hurt anything, but at higher levels you can stress the output transformer and tubes and shorten their life spans.

IMO, it won't hurt it to run a ST at 8 ohms. it's not the optimum, but it won't hurt the amp, since on a fender you can safely go 100% in either direction. IMO, you really should be running it at 4 ohms as intended for the best tone and most efficient power output.

You also catch a glimpse of Jamerson's amp which appears to be a Fender and am curious if its the same one we are discussing in this thread.

i always recommend running a tube amp at the correct specified load. running an amp hard into twice the impedance is not a good idea, especially an SVT, since, IMO, it's harder on the output tranny and the output tubes.
Stevie Ray Vaughn did it intentionally (ran them at twice the impedance) for tonal reasons, but i've always found that when you do that, it sounds kind of constricted and choked.

it's hard to really see clearly, but it looks more like a blackface fender bassman to me. it's definitely not a super twin or a studio bass.

How do these things sound dimed? I've heard they are ultra-linear and have also heard that means they don't break up very pleasingly

they break up great when pushed. it's the distortion circuit that's horrible, but i never use that.
BTW, the Sunn 200S and 2000S amps use ultralinear output trannys and they also break up really nice when pushed.

Does it break up similarly to the sunn amps or is it a different flavor? I just bought a chassis of one these bad boys.. Would you mind telling me what the measurements of the head case you made for it? And also if you don't mind I'd love to know how you tolex'd it.. You do some good work!

my head cab's dims are
H) 8 3/4" x (W) 26" x (D) 9-1/4", Chassis Cut-Out 24-1/2"
without going into too much detail, i just tolexed it the exact same way that fender did, only i use 3M super 90 contact cement spray for the glue.
you can also buy a head cab that fits it perfectly for it if you don't want to make one yourself.
