You'd think you guys would be more upset at the complete lack of honor (not to mention pride) in so many of the players than what the sport itself is called in North America. Take the 2x4 out of your ass & relax. Be proud we even care enough to discuss this pastime at all.
There is a whole culture that goes back generations, way way deeper than any of the superfluous crapola you see at something like a World Cup.
Well, we've been calling it "soccer" for generations. To us, "football" means something else. It's not something to get upset about. If it is, you'd better re-examine your priorities.

I should point out I regularly call it soccer, both in this thread(as recently as yesterday), and the club threads, and haven't ever been called on it.
