FIFA World Cup 2014

That pictures is proof of the line - how can something so wrong be so right.

Liverpool confirm Suarez gone to Barca.
Shame on Barca, but of course I'm not surprised. The Barcelona fans won't care that he's a maggot so long as he scrores goals. It's one of the things I hate about Barca and Real Madrid - the only thing they care about is beating one another, and they often buy players they don't need just so other teams don't get them. How many players get big transfer deals to one those clubs, spend 2 years sitting on the bench, and move on to an Italian club? They also don't give a stuff about buying a racist player whose pastimes include kung-fu kicks to other players, chronic diving, dangerous high tackles, and biting (and that was just in his last match). Barca bought him so Real Madrid didn't get him, or it would've been the other way around. At least he's out of the EPL anyway, which should make most Liverpool fans happy.

Germany were easily the best team of the tournament, not reliant on any one or two players, and certainly deserved to win the final (they never stopped attacking, while the Arges were just waiting for a shootout). Besides that, if Argentina had won they'd be even more arrogant than they are now. I couldn't believe they gave Messi the Player of The Tournament price (The Golden Ball or whatever the hell it is??). Even he looked embarrassed - he wasn't bad by any means, but there were plenty of players who were more deserving.

A great world cup overall, though I wish FIFA would drop the ridiculous 3rd -4th place match. Nobody cares about it, especially the players involved in it.

Although on this occasion it did mean that Brazil got hammered again - 10 goals against them in two games, lose Neymar and booed off in both seems at least some retribution for their cynical, inept and probably corrupt performance.

Messi was in no way worthy of player of the tournament IMHO. Rodriguez is probably my standout player, although when I think back on this the players I have been most impressed with have been goalkeepers and defenders in the main - and Schweinsteiger.
Big Ron Vlaar - who'd a thunk it - immense, Blind, Gonzalez and all those great goalkeeping performances from several keepers are what come immediately to mind, not the silky skills of the next Ronaldo/Messi.

Maybe it's a reflection on how the game is changing....

Never mind your Rugby League V Union.

Olympique Marseille(soccer) played Toulon(rugby) in a game that was 1st half soccer(reffed by Cantona) and 2nd half rugby(reffed by Marc Lièvremont).

OM won.

If I recall, it was by one point.

Also, I think it's fairly safe to say it wasn't exactly 'to code' for football or rugby!

The teams mixed widely and the numerous changes weren't tracked at all (in fact some players just came on and started playing without anyone being subbed off, heck, I seem to recall there being a few coaches and staff members joining into the fray too).

Good fun, though hardly indicative of either sport :p

IIRC correctly, a cross-code challenge about 10 years ago resulted in the league team destroying the union team at league, but the union team only narrowly beating the league team at union.

Maybe you can enlighten me?
The way players switch between the 2 codes here, it doesn't seem to make much difference. League used to be the main code over here, but not anymore. AFL has overtaken it by a long margin, and football is fast catching up as well (thankfully).

One goal, Om won the soccer half 5-4, rugby half was a draw, Toulon's physio with a late equalizer.

Most important, was at half time, Cantona was give a chance at a rugby conversion. He told Gignac that he'd try and hit the crossbar, which he then attempts and succeeds at.

Moral of the story, Cantona is better than everyone at everything.

That's one of the best bits of commentary, Toulon's physio scoring the late equaliser :D

I wouldn't argue that, Cantona wins because, Cantona.

I'd leave the missus for Cantona.
