Here's a quick link I found on google: Link Removed . That would allow you to run the MM pickup as a single coil. If the neck J pickup is a true single coil, this would probably give you a fairly convincing J sound. Should work with your existing knob, you need a new pot with push/pull. Link Removed

lol you beat me to it, my local shop has one of these in and I was planning a very similar mod job. I have done a review of this bass as stock in the reviews section over on basschat. I don't think you are allowed to link to other forums and I'm on my phone so couldn't anyway but it's there on follow basschat... User reviews....basses....spear flex if anyone is interested.

haha...I actually read that a few times before I bought the original bass. The one I got actually could have remained stock and been a full time player, but I wanted to make it as 'legit' as possible.

The original pickups were nice too....they are all part of TBers basses now....


Philbiker, thanks for the info...I am going to do that definitely. I will try to get some clips up within the next week or so...but I have a speech, psych exam, gigs, work.....ughh

As far as I can tell from their site, you can buy the saddles (for a Wilkinson style bridge) and the preamp and install it. You get a piezo audio output, plus the 13-pin output to trigger a synth (using one of several Roland boxes or interfaces). I think this is the system used by Furlanetto (FBass) and Godin. It isn't cheap!

There's also the Roland GK-3B pickup which snuggles right up to the bridge (you still have room), but the standard product has that disgusting wart that you have to stick on your bass.

They may have a solution you could integrate into the bass or you may be able to get some enterprising tech to tear apart the standard product and fit it into your control cavity.

Personally, I haven't have enough success or musical need to install a GK-3b (I have one, and the V-Bass floor box, gathering dust). Maybe if I had a platform bass for trying stuff out...

I wouldn't want to see you tear up Donatello there unless you were really comfortable with synth bass already...
