Sucker sounded pretty good, albeit hearing stuff at NAMM and hearing stuff out in the real world is not always the same.

We are in the process of overhauling our cabinet offerings, so I can't give specifics about materials right now. Some cabs may be built using alternative materials. The 1516 will be plywood.

i had originally commented that i was guessing it wouldn't be composites, but deleted that part for concern that it might read like a pointed comment. i wasn't thinking of the PA speakers i've seen. i'm not aware of any bass/guitar builders going with those materials on a large scale. Epifani did try those small aluminum cabs, but the market doesn't seem terribly vocal about their success.

These days I'm seeing an awful lot of the non-wood PA cabinets and monitors in small rooms, in some of the lesser and budget brand stuff, even used on CL. It seems like maybe its time for that to expand into bass gear. Most 'builders' can't do injection molded plastic cabinets, but a company like Peavey is plenty big for that scale of operation.

Me, too! Thanks for posting that. I get a kick out of Hartley Peavey. I can already hear the gear snobs sounding off about the "light show" comments. Now, I will set them to one color and leave them there. But attracting attention and selling the stuff is an important part of the equation. I personally don't care about the colors, but I think the whole thing--including Hartley's attitude about it--is AWESOME!
