I used to be a huge jetglo fan. But I've been gaining interest with the fireglo. Go for fire.

If it were any other bass than a Ric, I'd say pick the color you like best. Since it's a Ric I suggest trying each individual bass on its own merits and picking which one feels best. They vary so much bass to bass you can't just pick one off the shelf by color alone. If you do, chances for disappointment are high.

I was just thinking of what could EASILY be done by Rickenbacker, if they had the desire to.

Never tried the walnut...is it just brighter?

Almost impossible to do here in North Queensland (@RedVee not Far NQ, that's them flaky tourist-wallahs from Cairns!).
Would you elaborate a touch on what you found to be different?

I found that the Walnut has a bit of a quicker attack and a brighter overall character to it. It's possible that this is entirely due to the maple fretboard alone. It's a little difficult to put the tonal difference that I noticed into words and the above is probably an over simplification. I hope that helps.

Now that is a beautiful bass, I've been wanting an S but was kind of leaning toward a jetglo, you may have just changed my mind.

No wrong answer here! I already have a Fireglo (1989 4003) and my plan is to get a Walnut 4003s and convert it to a 5 string. Also, I'd jump on a deal on a 90's V64 or 4003s if I came upon one...
